Orange foncée/rouge voilée et avec des flocons dans le fond? Nez vinaigré, pomme verte. Goût un peu acide, fruité, pétillant, sucré, amertume dure à déceler et un pétillant (carbonation) désagréable selon mes goûts.

A hazed reddish copper ale with a thick onctuous frothy mocha head. In aroma, loads of ground cherry, lactic acid, light Brett, cherry halls, beautiful. In mouth, a sour puckering ale with lactic and acetic acidity, ground cherries, Epsom salts, very nice, like Rodenbach Grand Cru.

Bottle - 341ml (2013). Cloudy amber body with an instantly fading off-white foamy head. Its malty/hoppy aroma carries strong vinegar, oaky, and fruity hints. Taste is dominated by sour fruits flavors. Oaky, herbal, and yeasty notes are noticeable. Drinkable.

Bottle 341ml. Pours hazy deep golden with low beige head. Aroma is of sournes, vinegar, fruits. Taste is of sourness, fruits, vinegar, acid acetic, sugar. Palate: Medium body. Overall: A tad better than expected, but still not very good. Somewhat drinkable, but intense lack of complexity. Sour, vinegar-like. Miles away from what would be a Flanders red (c.f. label). Completely out of style (well, as per brewers marketing). Can’t believe Tom10101 made me buy this one :). That being said: i’ve seen worse.

Think I’ll give this brewery a wide berth from now on, this fairly ok though... Some malt, little hop, darkish Amber pour.

Bottle. Hazy golden amber, whispy light gold head. Aroma has subtle brown sugar underlying vinegary sourness. The palate is thin, but dominated by lactic sourness with a stemmy dryness in the finish. Very little underlying substance here, certainly not fit to join the company of true Flemmish sour browns. Not a drain pour, but not worth returning to either.

Bottle (341 ml). Clear copper with a small fully lasting off-white head and little lacing. Aroma of ketchup, red fruits, acetic notes, vinegar and wood. Taste is moderately sour and moderately to heavily acetic with ketchup, red fruits, vinegar and light caramel. Medium body. Dry and acetic. Moderate carbonation. I never though I would like a beer from Schoune and it’s the 2nd in a month or so that I rate 3.5. Good surprise here! Ketchup/vinegar/red fruits bomb, but well done and nothing off in this one.

Bouteille 341ml. Couleur Acajou limpide, faible mousse, beige laissant un anneau sur les parois du verre. Arôme de vieux vinaigre, acidité, alcool, prune. Goût de fruits mûrs, grande acidité, poussiéreux, alcool en fin de bouche. Carbonation moyenne, corps moyen.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2014 Pours a hazy light copper (WTF?!) with a thin white rim that doesn’t leave any lacing. This is for sure out of style, since when does a sour red/brown pour light copper/dark golden?! Aroma is strongly acetic, more so than I’d prefer. It is also just a touch musty. Taste is dry and tart, with again some harsh acetic notes. This is still drinkable but really pushing my limits. It is like drinking a vinegar shot with a fruits and sugar chaser. I don’t really look forward to taste their gueuze now...
