Veiled golden color with moderate activity. Slightly creamy bubbly white 2 finger head, lasting around 10-15 minutes, with gentle legs. Smell of apple cider, green grapes, and tart. Taste of apples, cranberries, peach, jolly ranchers candies, and wild yeast. Soft cheese and oak feel with dry sour fruits. Slick smooth medium body with super crisp zesty carbonation. Very strong finish, quite funky and very sour, highly vinous, alcoholic, but very warming. So there is no freshness here. The tongue coat is quickly gone, mostly attacking the back of the tongue. Harsh at first, but it quickly becomes an interesting experience as a good appetizer. Feels like malt and fruit wine. As my first Gueuze, I can’t really compare, though I think this is a very good quality craft, considering the style and for a 6 year old bottle. The sour queen wife approves this message.

Schoune Geuze La Spontanée 7.5% 750ml bottle gifted to Je by my buddies. This pseudo-geuze is a deep honey gold with a tangy lemon meringue nose with a certain sharpness as well. Medium to light bodied. The taste is acidic, dry, banana, bready and acerbic. Not as terrible as I was led to believe. I'd say it is passable at this point. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours copper with no head or lacing. Nose is cider vinegar lemon. Flavours of cider vinegar, lemon, dirty socks. Taste big sour. Light body no carbonation. Pretty hard to take.

Bottle 2006 vintage. Hazy copper pour, tiny, minimal white head. Aroma is funky dirty socks, white vinegar, and musty apples. Carb is non existant, beer is flat, mouth feel is watery. Finish is quite sour, light barnyard flavours, some wet hay, and a mouth puckering white vingar finish. Whoa, this is rough. Save your taste buds, make salad dressing out of this.

Very dark golden orange. The aroma isn’ bad. orange, clove, ginger, cheese and some egg with oak and wine tannins.Thin mouthfeel. no bubbles but a thick maltiness. Intense vinegar tartness. It’s not sour but that vinegar is present. Not awful at all, a Gueuze? not quiet.

Bottle: Thanks, Adam. 2006 vintage. Pours a hazy golden color. Soft white head, although the mouth feel is a bit oily and flat. Aroma of lemon, green apple, cork, mildew, & light cheese. Moderate acetic character in the flavor. Apple, white grape, vinegar, wine booziness, & some moldy cork.

[2006] 750ml bottle. Hazy amber with a thin ring of white foam. Flavors are sweet cereals, butter, acetone, vinegar, apples and lemon. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. What was I thinking...

Beardbeerman (341) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 8, 2015
2006 Vintage. Pours a hazy medium amber topped by a vivid fizzy head showing minimal retention and lacing properties. Very fine carbonation. The nose is acidic, fruity and sharp. Green apples, lemon, pineapple even some dry white wine. The taste isn’t too aggressive but still holds good acidity with the same green apples and lemony features giving the brew a wine aspect. Cheers!
