Deep brown-amber pour. The aroma is great. Rich sweet malt with lot of dried fruit. Cherry, dates and plums over a softly spicy yeastiness. Chewy and rich but its not treacly at all. A little bit of tobacco and herbs, but it is more fruity than anything else. There’s a touch of caramel and medium toffee along with some brown sugar. There’s a whole lot going on here but it’s still balanced and tasty. Lingering warming finish. nbutler11 (1267) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - MAR 26, 2009
Purchased from the brewer at his corner store in Montreal. Pours amber with a trim beige head. Smells of vegetable soup and barley. Tastes of both with additional notes of toffee and black pepper. Not bad, but the vegetable flavor grows tiresome.
