A distinct wheat-feel both in taste and aroma. Good, but not outstanding. Colour is dark brown, head is tan. (tap@brewpub)

Tap sampler at Schouskjelleren. Clear mahogany with a light brown film leaving a good lacing. Caramel, ripe banana and roasted notes on the nose. Medium to full body. Flatish and syrupy. Alcohol, acidic and light sweet with tobacco and other toasted notes.

02.05,2001. On tap at Schouskjelleren brewpub. Dark brown colour with tan head. Aroma is wheaty with some kind of sour taste. Its like some kind of white wine. Good beer with lots of flavours and good bitterness!

larsga (7625) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 1, 2011
Medium beige head. Seemingly opaque black body goes dark brown at edges. Faint licorice and banana aroma with earthy notes. Dry-sweetish earthy licorice taste with fruity yeasty notes. Light body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry earthy oily aftertaste with wheaty ashy roasty mealy notes. Decent, but flawed. (0.4l draft at brewpub.)

Taster in a small glass, draught at the brewpub. Murky, dark brown body. Small skinny ring of foam. Moderate spicy tartness to the nose. Tart fruits, spices and grainy malts in flavour. Bittersweet ending. Refreshing (Oslo, 10.01.2011).

Murky dark brown. Low beige head leaving fine laces. Lightly toasted malts, yeast, and an appley fruitiness on the nose. Sourish, light caramelly malts on the tongue. Yeast tones and faint yellow fruits, too. Light-bodied. A certain astringency on the palate. Some sourness and a light fruity acidity in the fade. Not true to the type, yet a decent ale.

Very dar, almost black, small beige head. Quite sweet, some smoke, on the thin side. I’d classify this as a Schwarzbier. Caramel, burned sugar, no wheat feel to this.
