3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Old rating from their opening, haven’t had it since. Black beer with red highlights, thin creamy beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, some smoke, burnt notes, coffee. Some dark fruity sweetness on the tongue. It’s got this wierd yeasty taste in the finish I don’t like, and it ends a bit too dry as well for my taste. Light bodied, slightly thin, mellow carbonation. All in all, it’s decent, but a bit too timid.
Burnt, smokey aroma. Medium body, low carbonation. Pleasant roasted bitter malt taste but not too overpowering. Very easy to drink. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 25, 2012
In short: A medium-sweet medium-hoppy stout with a bit of everything. Good beer.mansquito (6732) - Nueva York, New York, USA - AUG 15, 2012
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head with excellent retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is medium-roasted, some toasted tobacco leafs, raisin pie. Taste has some black liquorice, some raisins, some vanilla, light notes of chocolate, light notes of coffee beans. Then a good amount of citrsusy/citric hops that creates a contrast and a refreshing finish. Mouthfeel is soft with a carbonation much more relaxed than everything else I had from this brewpub. Quite enjoyable, a beer I would have probably enjoyed a lot more if it wasn’t for their hoppy beers being so damn fantastic. I don’t know what a Thunder Bear is, but the simple fact that one day a bear said “hey guys every year let’s just eat a ton of food and then sleep for 6 months” really makes question the notion that humans are the smartest species on the planet.
At Brewpub, on tap: Black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is heavy roast balanced with chocolate. Very smooth and has good mouthfeel. Good stout. visionthing (5472) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 3, 2012
From tap at Schouskjelleren. Dark, almost almost black with a beige head. Roasty aroma some fruits, chocolate and hints of coffee. Quite well balanced and easy to drink. Lightly bitter finish with an aftertaste of coffee.

On tap at Olympen. Black with a creamy beige head. Berries and hints of roasted coffee. Meaty flavours, tart berries, hints of licorice. Quite complex. Palme (4812) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2011
On tap @ Olympen, Oslo. This bear pours a near pitch black body with a nice light creamy cafe au lait head leaving big lacing down the glass. Aroma is light roasted malts, some cold coffee, definitely some mocha and chocolate notes in here as well, hints of wood and a light hint of something dry. Not sure what but it’s dry - perhaps its the wood?. Average carbonation, medium-bodied and has an oily texture. Tastes quite alright. Heavily roasted malts are the main flavor here, but also get something sweet with hints of yeast and something light floral. Light hint of licorice in the aftertaste. Quite a nice and highly drinkable stout. abemorsten (3650) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - MAY 7, 2011
