COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweet, tart, beautiful and well-balanced, Amelia is the most recent addition to our Schramm’s Mead family. In the early 1880’s Santa Cruz fruit breeder James Harvey Logan interbred Aughinbaugh blackberries with Red Antwerp raspberries. The Loganberry was born. Over a century later, in 2016, so was Amelia.

On tap at Schramms. Poured light haze very dark red. Aroma loganberry in the face. Taste dry astringent almost cranberry.

Sampled at the source. Raspberry-colored pour. Muscular, bright raspberry on the nose. Some dirt. A bit of gentle booziness. Drinks very well. Tart raspberry, a bit acidic. Plays well with the honey. A bit drier and more nimble than some of the other Schramms offerings sampled on this occasion. Nice.

Sample at Schramm’s, Ferndale. Dark red shade. No head. Even more perfumey than Madeline was. Taste feels a bit more artificial than some of the others. The cherry comes through a bit like cough drops. Still very nice though.

Another masterpiece from Schramm's! It's beautiful, but more important it's incredibly well balanced while being so intensely flavorful. The raspberries and blackberries combination (ie the Loganberries) is stunning, the acidity level is perfect and the aftertaste is endless with the fruit acidity and honey sweetness both trying to have the last word (which end up to the comforting warming alcohol presence). It's magical!

Bouteille (375 ml) partagée en dégustation. Version 1er anniversaire.

Sampled from the tap at the meadary. Pours a clear deep ruby red with no head whatsoever. Aroma has dry and tart berry with a hint of dry honey underlying. Flavor has the same dry and bitter berry combination but more honey coming through.
