Schramm’s Ginger is a full-throated, unapologetic expression of ginger and honey. It is intended as an accompaniment to grilled or spicy Indian, Ethiopian or Thai cuisine, Grilled Korean mackerel, flavorful sushi and sashimi such as salmon, and dark chocolate. It is created with California Orange Blossom honey from Silverbow Honey in Moses Lake, Washington, and real, diced ginger.

Bottle into a dessert glass showing well filtered honey gold with no head. The nose shows strong notes of ginger with softer notes of honey. The palate is light bodied and with a mild ginger spiciness. Moderately sweet with lighter notes of peach and orange with ginger running far into the finish. Balanced throughout yet full bodied and full flavored. Ginger spiciness is long but mildly intense. Fantastic.

At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of ginger, sugar and spice. Taste has lots and lots of spicey ginger, honey, syrupy sugar and some more spices. Extreme on the ginger, this is heavy stuff.

Pour from a bottle when I picked up Madeline bottles. The pour is a brighter light yellow with some solid leg as it falls down. The ginger is humongous. I was actually expecting something a little lesser, but Jesus. The ginger dominates the honey all over. This is almost something that should be served with a little sushi. The flavor is no different. The ginger is just giant, front to back. I’m not big on it, and I think it’s why I like Lord Jim a little more. The mouth feel is a little light for a Schramm’s mead with a lingering heavy ginger and a light honey and alcohol. This may be among my least favorites, but I am not a ginger guy.

Bottle shared by Yanif, thanks! Clear yellow pour. Aroma is huge ginger as you’d expect. Taste is same, spicy ginger. Not a huge ginger fan but this is really well done.

Sampled at Vintage Estate this mead poured a yellow-tan color. The aroma was sweet with strong ginger paste and honey. The flavor was strong candied ginger. Very long finish. Full bodied and smooth. Ambrosia.

July 24, 2016. Bottle.
Clear pale golden with no head. Aroma is sweet, spicy with slight floral honey, fresh ginger, notes of nutmeg, a touch of pineapple and minerals. Taste is sweet and spicy. Finish is sweet floral honey, spicy nutmeg and slight warming alcohol leading to a nice ginger bite in the end. Medium to full bodied, oily texture.
Nice, sweet with a refreshing ginger finish.
