COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schremser Roggenbier is the rediscovery of a beer speciality, which was traditional up until the 15th century when it was then banned. Top-fermented, Schremser Roggen stands out due to its intensive full-bodied taste. Slightly fruity to start then pithy with a long aftertaste. 11.9°

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2009 Poured from a 33cl screwtop bottle. A hazy light brown colour with a stable and creamy head. Huge ester and yeast aroma, almost like a fresh dough; citrus notes as well. Whole grain bread in the flavour, an overall fruitiness and roastiness too. Nicely bitter - too bitter and dry to pass for a dark wheat. The mouthfeel is creamy, but with a spritzy carbonation that provides a light acidity. If you like yeasty aromas, this is for you!

Tap in the rake. Alround rating: Wheaty grainy malts, Brown bread, banana fruity esters, fruity spicey character. Too wheaty estery for me.

0.5 liter bottle purchased at Julius Meinl in Vienna, Austria for 1.49 Euro. Very good.
