500ml bottle (Stockmann, Tallinn) - thanks Marduk!
Really nice light bready grains, full and unfiltered. Initially a very papery taste, and then tons and tons of almonds, at least for phil. Alas now I’ve tasted it, I can smell some walpaper paste and paperiness. Nice smooth palate, pleasant carbonation. Late finish is packed full of hops, seared pork flesh fattiness. Anna gets honey at the end. A real shame about the paperiness, without this it would be great. Asked for a top-up from Anna. Has my salivary glands working overtime it’s do dry.

5.0% slightly hazy gold in colour with a good head, a bit of a lager aroma and the taste is a bit bitter

Really smells quite nice. Grassy and malty, with a medium orange-yellow appearance. Unfortunately it doesn’t taste quite as good as it smells. The flavor is a bit cloying but not in a sweet way, just sticky with a below-average flavor and a too thin finish. If this tasted half as good as the aroma it’d be quite nice.

rauchbier (3815) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - OCT 9, 2016
Bottle, from Lidl. Hazy lemon gold, fluffy and lasting white head, gentle condition. Low fruity maltiness in the nose, some fruitiness in the mouth but quickly becomes quite dry and yeast bitter, some hop notes are apparent but are a little metallic. Finish is brief and fruity sweet with a touch of yeastiness.

From aldi, some fresh grass hops, good clean taste, with a touch of sweetness and spice on the finish. Tasty, and amazingly good value for money

Bottle from Aldi, Manchester. Hazy yellow with next to no head. Clearly unfiltered, there’s a sweetness to the beer alongside a light fruitiness, and it’s all quite tasty.

ForlornHope (429) - Hampshire, ENGLAND - OCT 2, 2016
Bottle from Aldi. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a rocky head that soon fades. Typical aromas of bready yeast and grassy, floral hop. Sweet start then a bitterness which is a little harsh. Well-carbonated so lively on the palate and finishes dry. Not bad.

Glad to see DanielBrown giving this a good score: I do think there’s a tendency to pre-judge these mass-produced cheapies, as if we’re looking for validation for seeking out the more esoteric brews. 500 ml bottle from ALDI, poured into a Budweiser version of an English pint This has a bit of farmyard straw aroma, a hazy gold body with a white head. Bread, lemon sourness and apples, Light bodied crisp and refreshing.
