"Schweinsbräu Dunkel". Brewed by Riedenburger Brauhaus. 500ml bottle. 08.09.2012.
It pours a deep reddish brown with a fizzy off-white head that leaves no lacing.
The smell is nice. Some floral noble hops mix with a nice bready maltiness with some caramel and dark fruit.
The flavor is good. A bit sweet for a dunkel. It has a lot of sugar, caramel, and cocoa. There is a nice breadiness, a slight tang, mineral water character, and some fruit. The hops linger in the background with a hint of floral flavor and a slight little pinch of bitterness.
The only thing I would say is that it is a bit thin so it has good drinkability but not really mouthfeel. It would be good in the summer. shrubber85 (11385) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - AUG 24, 2014
Bottle. Chocolate fudge malt and hay aroma. Cloudy brown with small head. Sweet chocolate malt and hay flavor. Body on the lighter side. Good. faroeviking (10910) - FAROE ISLANDS - DEC 29, 2008
Botella. Unclear amber brown colour. Medium light brown creamish head. Nutty, caramel and well toasty malty aroma. Rather thin mouthfeel. The flavour has toasted malt and caramel, some nuts and brown sugar, bitter hops and chocolate. reminds me more of a brown ale than a dunkel. cubs (10634) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JAN 13, 2012

Bottle (Dank an Jonas!): Reddish-amber coloured, slowly collapsing off-white head; dark malt, roasted malt, nuts and some dried fruits in the nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; slightly lingering - almost a bit smoky - drier roast-malty finish. Good.........

500 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm- thanks again, Chris! Pours a hazy nut brown with amber highlights and a medium beige head. Notes of banana, clove, bread, wheat, caramel, and brown sugar. Light-medium bodied, with a dry, sweet mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Good dunkel. Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUL 10, 2012
It’s a hazy dark red mahogany with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of burnt sugar, caramel, roasted malt and hints of chocolate. The medium sweet flavor has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and burnt sugar, and it has hints of licorice in the finish. MoritzF (9901) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JAN 27, 2010
(swing top bottle) Hazy, slightly ruby brown coloured hue with floaties and a big and beige, also dense foamy head. Sweet and yeasty toasty malty aroma with notes of caramel, dark chocolate and shades of hops. Slightly bitter flavour, rather light bodied with a soft carbonation. Toasty malt-accented taste with caramel, a whiff of chocolate and rounded herbal notes; moderately dry hoppy and toasty bitter finish. 27.I.10 DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 10, 2013
16.9oz bottle, thanks to Alicia M. for bringing this back for me. Shared at Natifest 2013. Mildly hazy golden orange amber color. Minimal off-white head. No lace sticks.. Chocolate, dark fruit aroma. Light carbonation, kind of soft. Medium-plus body. Dry finish. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Some bigger nuttiness. This is a pretty good dunkel. A pleasant surprise, as the hefe I had from them was really disappointing.
