Honeyish yeasty and burned notes. Ernest (7861) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 23, 2012
Brown amber low head.
Burned chokolaty taste
with the same refreshing fizzy, grassy bitterhop finish as the helles.
Medium body - very nice beer.
Bottle. Strykzone (7714) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - DEC 18, 2011
Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium to dark brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, nuts, husks, grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of metal and rotten fruit.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean.
Light to medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, metallic.
Ugh. As with the other two beers I’ve had from this brewer, this just plain sucks. Dirty, metallic, poor mouthfeel, and really clunky. Drain pour.
Bottle poured into a dimple mug. A big root beer like head takes some patience and a few pours before the bottle was emptied. I smell bready malt and soggy grain. No carbonation in the mouth and the feel is watery. Cocoa flavor is not big but is prominent. Applesauce and wet grass. Fruit is almost hidden. This is kind of ho hum. Bottle 500 ml JStax (7225) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 4, 2013
Aroma: plenty of chocolate in there. Mild soft nose, bit grainy soft barley feel. 6+
Appearance: copper-red brown with large fine creamy top. Thick, dense, presentable. Neat lace. 4+
Palate / Taste: medium light bodied. Very soft with gentle carbonation. Creamy mild chocolate with chewy texture. Too soft, buttery like feel.
Bottle shared at natifest. Pours a translucent amber with no head. The aroma has toast and caramel. Tastes the same. Lighter body.

Aroma is strong toffee/caramel, earthiness and a hint of spice. The flavor is toffee/caramel, light fruit, thin body and a odd off tangy note in the finish. Patrickctenchi (6750) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - AUG 19, 2014
Bottle: obguthr (6733) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Clear, deep caramel-brown with a creamy, light tan head.
Dark bread, molasses aroma.
Taste is toffee malt, nutty, chocolate malt......creamy.
Quite tasty.....though slightly flat.
Aroma is dried leaves and tea with elderberry accents. Clear rust, medium yellow head. Strong tea flavor, astringent. Elderberry is ever present. Mouthfeel is fizzy. This isn’t one of my favorite styles, but this one had personality. There are other detractors but at least this somewhat distinctive.
