Dark umber color with a seemingly fizzy tan head. Aromas seem a bit grainy and meaty. Why use those terms? I just fed the dog her Iams Mini Chunks, and this does seem to have a similar scent. Toasted malt, grains, caramel and hints of silage. Thicker feel. Flavors of caramel and mild dark breads. 3/12

Nice pig label. The b0dy is a clear chestnut c0l0r t0pped by a tall, pale tan head. The ar0ma is w0rty with0ut getting t00 sweet and has a splash 0f mineral water t0 it. It tasted rich and malty, caramel/toffee, again n0t t00 sweet, with a t0uch 0f ash. I liked this 0ne. Hildigöltur (5104) - København, DENMARK - JAN 20, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Reddish brown coloured. Sweet and malty with notes of milk chocolate and coffee. Also quite fruity and rather nutty. Soft mouthfeel. Complex and nice. thegreenrooster (4402) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 18, 2011
Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet malts with some roasted nuts. Flavor is a little bland but there is some caramel with a roasted malt. Just not enough there to make this a good beer. So-so dunkel and maybe this is old since the last rating was in 2010. Frank (4194) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 30, 2014
This is my third in a row from this brewery and I am quite excited it is not terrible. This one actually smells and tastes like a German beer style. It pours a nice chestnut bronw w/ a fine-bubbled, large but short-lived head. It smells of caramel, cherries and a bit of almond along w/ some alcohol heat, which is strange for a low-gravity brew. This is mildly sweet with mild carbonation, which brings out some more nutty oxidized character. I suspect this may be either old, poorly brewed or mistreated but it actually worked out OK in this particular bottle. I would actually probably buy this again if I had any certainty that this beer actually normally tasted like this and I didn’t just have some random good luck w/ a bottle w/ beneficial oxidation.

Pours a pretty reddish brown color with a small head.drjay44 (3712) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JAN 30, 2014
The aroma is pretty sweet, with lots of caramel, toasted marshmallow, and some mild roastiness.
The flavor is not as sweet as the aroma lets on, although it’s a moderately sweet beer… flavors of cola, some mild bitterness, light earthy hops, & nuttiness. Some nice flavors here for sure, s’a pity that cola seems to be the dominant one….
The palate is bubbly but really pretty thin.
500 ml. bottle. 5% ABV per the label. Pours a medium, light beige head, over a clear light brown (SRM 20) body....nose is light toasted malts with toast, biscuit, hints of toffee/caramel, minimal esters....taste is slightly sweet with chocolate, hints of toffee/caramel, light hop bitterness and light spice....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation low with light acid. This is a quite typical Dunkel with moderate roasted malts, light hops and not a tremendous amount of character. Rating above to my enjoyment, rating at the right to style. Decent dunkel. Aroma was big and delicious. Strong malt backbone with fresh baked bread and caramel. Pour was a hazy dark brown with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was OK. Heavy roasted malt and caramel flavors with notes of toffee in the finish. Little to no carbonation is what hurt this beer. A little bubbles would’ve taken this beer a long way hawanna (3301) - Freising, GERMANY - DEC 13, 2012

bread, roasty, chocolate, earthy, red-brown Color, clear, frothy, tan foam, light sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body, oily feel, average carbonation, long finish, Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2013
500ml, swing-top bottle from some small shop in Munich. Pours a clear, deep brown colored body with a finger-width, frothy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fairly malty sweet with some richer caramels, a few fruity notes, a bit of a toasty bread, and a soft bittering hint. Flavor is similar. Caramels and some toasty toffee up front with a nice dark fruit, slight bread, and light cocoa note. Finishes clean, smooth, and somewhat dry with a light-medium bitterness before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Medium-light body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent dunkel. Nice caramel, toast, and fruit notes with a solid, clean bitterness. Nice beer.
