COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It offers a finely wooded nose hinting at hazelnut, and is therefore distinct from traditional British scotches. It has a more rounded taste letting a discreetly full-bodied bitterness come to the fore, and will naturally seduce you.
Ingredients: Water, pale ale malt, caramel malt, aromatic malt, sugar, yeast, Kent hop, hallertau hop.

Full bodied rich taste. Lots of malt both in taste and aroma. Wooden notes.

At Cambrinus, Bruges. Pours cloudy dark brown, almost black, with a foamy, tan head that leaves lacing. The aroma contains butterscotch, chocolate, sugar, malt, vanilla, some spices and hops. It tastes medium to heavy sweet (caramel and vanilla) and very light spicy bitter. The light bitterness balances out an appearing cloying sweetness. Medium body, syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. A great dessert beer, I like this a lot! Too bad the style is not more popular in Belgium.

Very Belgian beer with balance totally on the malt side. Sweet smell of pralines with alcohol. Taste: very sweet, alcohol, chocolate, coffee with too many spoons of sugar. Full-bodied. Bottle of 0.33l is hard to finish though as the beer gets, somewhere in the middle, too heavy to drink. Dessert beer.

Bottle. Cloudy hazelnut color, so,e white head. Seductive, tasty caramel, bread, malt, nut and toffee candy with a smooth finish. Very drinkable for a heavy malt beer worth 8%.

Reddish-brown, white head, almost no-retention. Aroma is nice: malts, nuts, caramel, alcohol spicyness. Medium to full body, light carbonation. Sweet, liquor-ish and lightly bitter. Licorice, wood, nice alcohol warmth. Warm and alcoholic, yet gentle finish. Very nice!

330 ml bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep reddish/copper/light brown color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/chocolate, herbal, wood, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Just a bit too fruity in the aromas, but not overwhelming. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/chocolate, herbal, wood, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/woody/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/chocolate, herbal, wood, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly drying from lingering bitterness as well. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a very nice Scotch ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering, and well made example of the style.

LCI. Poured from the bottle. Nice sweet and malty scotch ale. Also a small bitter through the strong flavour of caramel. Not bad!
