Our standout pale ale balances a light honey taste with bitey bitterness and crisp citrus notes. This is no ordinary beer.

weege63 (1) - BELLBIRD PARK, AUSTRALIA - JUN 20, 2016 does not count
Would have to be the best tasting Gluten Free beer that I have tried yet. None matching it in Australia yet. Goes wonderfully with the Gluten free Pizza at Scotts Brewery, Oamaru, New Zealand.

Golden colour with no head and next to no evident carbonation. Pleasant fragrant navel orange aromas and lemon zest abound. It is crisp with flavours of tangelo, oranges and carries with it a sherbety mouthfeel that is actually rather enjoyable. If this was tasted blind it would easily shed the perception that gluten free beer is bland, cloudy and a sad compromise for those who aren’t fortunate enough to enjoy barley, wheat and rye beers. This beer bucks the trend and I would (and will) happily have a second.

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of hops and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemon, hops, and malt, leading to a bitter finish. Bought in a New World in Christchurch.

The head is ok, it smells sweet, citrus, fruity, fresh. The taste is sweet, citrus, bit bitter, less body. Ok for a Glutenfee beer!. 12/11/10/10/11/10

Bottle, purchased on my last visit to the Invercargill Brewery bottle shop before leaving for Canada. This, along with Emerson’s limited release weizenbock, was to be my last kiwi brew before returning home. It pours a bright orange-gold with a lively foamy head. Very fragrant perfumey citrus and resin hoppy aroma. The palate is extremely thin and is dominated by citrus and resin hop character, which unfortunately cannot hide the lack of malt balance. Still, this is by far the most flavourful and enjoyable of any of the gluten-free beers I’ve had, simply because of the generous hop flavours.

33 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and slight chemical. Chemical and slight peachy hops fruity flavoured. Dry and bitter, slight chemical phenolic from back of the nose into the finish.

TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 20, 2009
Bottle. Pours a clear and bright gold with no head but plenty of visible carbonation. A sweet honeyish citrus nose. The palate certainly as a bitter bite to it, but it is very much that of raw grain. There is that honey again in the flavour, but overall lacks body and substance and is a bit soapy. But, for the Celiacs, it sure beats Bud Light.

Pours a neon gold with no head. Very interesting aroma. Herbal, fruity, vinyl? Flavour is of fruit juice, bananas, herbs. A little medicinal. Finish is dry yet with a sticky mouthfeel and a lingering herbal note.

Orange in colour with big head that dissapeared quickly.
Big candy floss aroma. Grapfuit flavours, short bitterness. MMMMM!

omega (899) - NEW ZEALAND - JAN 23, 2012
Pourer frothy which dissipated very quickly. Colour is light gold which hints at the thinness in the palate. Biggest selling point for this beer is that it is gluten free, and given the (limited) range I have tried this is one of the better ones out there in our neck of the woods.
