Dark in color with a creamy head and flavor. Leads to a mildly bitter ending. Very dark indeed, almost black like it's name.

Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a black color with a nice fingers worth of off white foamy head that died off at a fairly good pace. Moderate messy lace. The aroma had some coffee grounds slightly roasted with some nuttiness and milk chocolate. The flavor was sweet to roasty with a crisp sweet malty to roasted sort of aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation feels good. Overall, not bad for what it is. Possibly again.

Had this one on tap at the Sea Dog in Hull, MA. Pour is an opaque black with a tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee and the taste follows the aroma. The palate is dry. Overall, an enjoyable beer to have while overlooking the bay towards downtown Boston.

Draught. This is a lackluster stout without much going for it. Give it a miss.

Pours an opaque brownish black with thin ring of tab lacy head. Aroma is coffee, sweet chocolate, and toffee. Taste falls short, just the coffee, thin and weak. Meh, more like a porter.

On tap at Sea Dog in Woburn, MA. Very drinkable Irish style stout similar to Guinness but maybe slightly better. Pours black with a rich creamy head that sticks around. The one I had at the brewpub was just called Sea Dog Stout and it was 4.5% so its possible that I am rating something different here.

Brown ale with a lasting off-white head. Woody aroma. Watery, cold palate. Dry malty finish.

Tap at the brewery. The ABV was 4.5%, and it was named simply "Sea Dog Stout". Great beer. Aromas of chocolate, nuts, and liquorice. Taste has a sweet start, with bitterness taking over for a long finish. Palate is almost creamy, with a medium body. Black, with a thick white head.

A real good Stout, though the Sea Dog page lists three Stouts and this one was unspecified in the sample flight.

Simple, smooth, creamy, and not too much of anything. Its marginally more complex than guiness, and with a somewhat similar mouthfeel, but not as dry. This was deffinately the more enjoyable of the two beers i had there the other evening. Roast malt flavors and some nice sweet notes. Im glad i tried it before i read the reviews here...its much more enjoyable than they lead you to believe.
