Had on a recent visit to the Scarborough location. poured murky reddish brown with a thick lasting head and nice lace. Aroma was barrel, malty, and whiskey. Taste was like a strong imperial ipa but more malty and roasted with whiskey undertones. Alot going on with this full bodied beer. I really enjoyed this and it had a long strong malt finish.

At room temp the bourbon flavor and the boozyness is so overwhelming its hard to get through it. Might be more manageable in a smaller snifter glass. The spices are drowned out but it’s got enough hop/malt mix to make things start off okay. The nose is just the barrel and nothing else. porterhouse (1580) - Boothbay, Maine, USA - DEC 27, 2011
(Draft @ Scarborough location) Served in a stem glass. Lightly hazy, dark muddy amber, a bit reddish brown. A finger and a half of tan head. Aroma of sort of thin whisky, coffee, wood, chocolate, caramel, coconut, vanilla - several elements but kind of muted and thin. Mouthfeel is sort of thin and fizzy - lots of carbonation but not much texture. Nice, solid rings of lacing. Flavor of light whisky and wood, vanilla and coconut, some toffee and chocolate as it warms. A little hot, feels like more than the standard Slick Nick. Decent but not much more.
