Our German Style Hefe Weizen is brewed with 2-Row Barley & Malted Wheat. This refreshing unfiltered beer is pale gold in color with a cloudy appearance. Its aroma of banana, clove & lemongrass come from the traditional German Wheat Beer Yeast which also give this classic beer its effervescence, drinkability and fruity flavor. Great with whitefish, shellfish and chicken. SEASONAL: APRIL

12oz bottle through a beer of the month club. Cloudy straw color. Flavor is crisp and light with citrus and mild spice finish. Not much wheat really, but an above average hefeweizen. Light and refreshing. If I could find this around me I’d be happy to drink this on a warm summer day.

Whatever this is, this is the 4.9% alcohol hefe. Pours vloudy yellow with white head. Aroma is light banana and spice. Lightly sweet and spicy. Kind of meh.

On tap at Sebago. Cloudy golden color with thin, lasting white foam, this one’s a bit too bubbly for my liking. Aromas of ripe fruit, mostly banana. Some spice and wheat come through in the flavor, though not as much yeastiness as I enjoy. Not bad, but somewhat boring.

Holdwine (1237) - Beertimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 16, 2015
A weak effort here. Not much to report on. Faint notes of style, but watery and missing the mark.

GIJOE (1256) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - JUN 26, 2015
Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy white head. Nose is citrus with strong banana esters. Taste is slightly tart. Refreshing brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a weizen glass and a pint glass at separate times. The only difference is the larger head in the weizen. The appearance was a cloudy golden yellow with tinges of orange operating around the edges of the beer. The smell had a sour blend of banana and clove. For all of the times I’ve had this, I always want to say that there is something different about the banana in this one, like it’s fake or something. The taste was mainly tart through the banana and clove. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was semi - sharp. Overall, in my opinion, this is not a very good hefeweizen to me at all.

kramer (6905) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 25, 2013
Tap. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a small fizzy white head. The nose is wheaty with minimal esters, just a light banana note. The flavor is OK, a bit bland with some light banana and light yeastiness. Rather heavily bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Rather bland overall, but at least there are no major flaws.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2014 22.06.2013, tap @ Sebago Brewing Portland:
Small shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly fruity, wheat, yeast, dried fruits, banana, hay, citrus peel. Taste is slightly fresh, wheat, citrus, hay, yeast, some dried fruits and grass. Little bitterness. Fair enough, refreshing.

Bottle. This is a thin and flimsy brew without much going for it. It does have the nice soft mouthfeel of a Hefe but thats about it.

Location: Draft at Cornerstone (Ogunquit), 7/9/13

Aroma: The nose is wheat, orange, lemon, yeast, clove/spice, and some banana
Appearance: This one pours a hazy golden-orange color with a white head
Flavor: The taste is mid-sweet, pretty much on style, with some yeast and spice flavors
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has average carbonation, and a pretty decent feel
Overall Impression: This one was a fine hefe. It is on-style and decent, though it is not a special beer.
