650ml bottle. Poured pretty much black, with ruby brown around the edges where light could get through. One finger of mocha brown head that went away fairly quickly. Interestingly, although the beer was a thick black the carbonation on the sides was visible. Decent sticky lacing. Aroma is not strong, some roasty, sweet malt, alcohol and soy sauce. Mild earthy hops. Taste is quite thin, mostly burnt malt at the back of the tongue, some off sweetness, tanginess and a touch more soy. Body is both watery and heavy, but the carbonation was decent. Overall, it’s an acceptable stout, but there are plenty of better ones out there.

tap at Portland location - Pours near black with a long lasting tan head and heaving lacing. The aroma is mild, roasty, chocolate malt. It tastes of sweet, dark roast malt with a full body and a roasty, mildly bitter finish.

On draft @ Brew pub in Gorham.Poured with a small, lasting, beige head. Some lacing. Heavy malt, roasted coffee, and a touch of chocolate as well. Pleasant to your nose. Taste is similar to the aroma. Average carbonation. Has a creamy yet dry finish. I can drink a 6 pack with ease, It’s worth a try if you can get a fresh bottle. I would buy again.

Tap. Moderate malt notes of toasted, molasses and a hint of dark chocolate, light resin and earth for the hops and yeast, with a hint of vanilla in the background. Head is small to medium, creamy with some bigger bubbles, light brown with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color appeared black in a dimly lit bar. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, watery with a soft carbonation and a slightly drying finish. A pretty good Sweet Stout with plenty of nice attributes, could’ve been a bit more complex though.

Thanks to John for the bomber. Poured deeper brown with a fluffy, sticky dark tan head. The aroma picked up soft, sweet chocolate, vanilla, and oatmeal notes with light roast to it.. a little piney hoppage peeked through and complemented it well.. very enjoyable. The flavor found moderately-roasty chocolate, barley, and black patent maltage at the core, with vanilla and sweeter chocolates extending outward.. earthy bitterness took over from the pine, and really dried out the finish.. the malts lost some direction as the drink progressed, but it was still tasty. Light-medium bodied with dry roast as the dominant characteristic on the palate.. moderate carbonation kept it rolling along.. could’ve used a touch more body, but there wasn’t much to complain about. I need this on cask in my basement.

Dark brown with thick creamy head. Smoky aroma. Chocolate malt flavors with coffee and smoke notes. My favorite of the sampler.

On tap at Sebago Portland , ME location. Pours out dark brown almost black topped with a creamy tan head. Aroma was of coffee, molasses, chocolate, and rich roast malts. Taste was much as the aroma with a nice full body.
