Bottle. Opaque black color. No head, though tannish ring circles the glass. Roasted elements, malty, coffee beans, almonds, nutty. Soda-like in consistency, though watery and flat. Bland and weak past the aroma and a real disappointment. Don’t tease the drinker.

22. Thanks, SuzyGreenberg! Jet black. Medium caramel highlights. Slim gray rim up top. Huge coffee and booze nose with plenty of chocolate there as well. Light, slightly creamy body. Chocolate, coffee, plums, and booze on the mid-palate. Nice stuff; the flavor seems imperial but the body is more like a house stout. Get that booze under control and this might turn out to be something.

22 oz bomber served in my Smuttynose tulip. Pours black with with a huge angry tan head. Nose is all cocoa. Palate is smooth with a medium body. Flavor is cocoa with a malty base. Some flavor of molasses as well. Didn’t get any hop flavor that some other raters are mentioning.

Pours deep black into a snifter. Fluffy mocha head pancakes and tophats as it slowly recedes. Chocolate and hop aromas. Sweet and sharp upfront with dark caramel, roasted oatmeal and chocolate. Lasting cocoa finish.

Bottle. Pours a thin black body that went reddish at the corners. A tall tan head had loose bubbles and fairly high retention. The smell was filled with sweet malts and a bit of charcoal or burnt wood. It felt watery and flat on my tongue as most of the carbonation must have sucked up into the head. The flavor was weak with notes of crushed walnuts, buttery toffee and sweet watery malts. Almost the sensory feeling of when you put too much water in oatmeal. I poured out almost half of the bomber, and I was splitting it... does not speak well.

Bomber from the Market Basket in Rockport Maine. Pours black with a big puffy 2 finger light brown head. Nose is sweet and roasty with a nice rich chocolate character. Taste is chocolaty and sweet and slightly thin, much better nose than taste, but overall far better than I guessed from a random bomber.

From memory. On draft at the pub near the port. Black with lasting light brown head and lotsa lace. Roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Rich chocolate and roasted dark chocolate flavors with mild underlying bitterness. Rich creamy texture. Medium bosy and low carb. Delicious.
