Can from Brewtopia. Dark Amber with lasting ring. Burnt caramel bourbon vanilla woody overripe cherry aroma. Very roasted caramel lots of fruit and some cherry syrup. Finish is woody burnt old hop bitterness almost to astringency. Full body. Bold and badass, but definitely a zipper. I hope the next trend is "fresh hop drink before" barleywines. Because Im tired of this woody vanilla bourbon sweetness. Im not even sure I liked it in the first place.

Pours a deep copper sienna color with a finger of eggshell foam that settles out. Nice harmony of bourbon sweetness and complexity throughout. Notes of creme brulee, caramelized sugar, leather, vanilla, bourbon, hint of butterscotch at just the right moments. Nuances of floral honey, earthy bitter rawhide, boozy bourbon. Well constructed and tasty.

Draft pour has a dark brown color and a thin ring of tan head. Aroma has sweet bourbon, barrels, roasted char, mild bitterness, and aged hops. Mouth feel is medium full with great coating. Flavor is more of the same, roasted, aged hops, big and chewy.

2013 bottle. Pours mahogany into a tulip. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Vanilla, oak and bourbon. Soft with sweet bourbon and vanilla upfront turning midly sour in the lasting bitter finish.

GIJOE (1152) - North Berwick, Maine, USA - JAN 31, 2015
Pours dark ruby red with a moderate, foamy, off-white head that dissipates quickly. Nose is powerfully sweet and boozy malt with notes of nougat, umami, and oak. Taste is a pleasing combination of huge malty sweetness and a nice hop bite. Full bodied brew with lively carbonation. Very nice!

Pours a dark brown color with off-white head, not much. Dark fruits, caramel, and some toffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes sweet. Too sweet for me.

10 oz. snifter @ Portsmouth Gas Light Co. Deep Crimson color with slow diminishing head. Aroma is pretty nice, light bourbon on top of brown sugar, vanilla and alcohol soaked raisins.

The taste is sweet, boozy and decadent. Bourbon nauances sitting on top vinous notes, vanilla bean, and oak tannins with a syrupy texture. A bit of chocolate hints in the backend as it warms. Medium body with a sweet and woody /oaky finish. Nice light warming sensation after the sip. The Gas Light Co. is really stepping up their tap list in a big way, lots of solid offering on the Street level! This was a treat to get without having to drive to Portland.
