Draft @ brewpub. Is black, looks rich and thick, and has a thick tan head. Viscosity looks promising. Has that good sort of metallic/mineral and inky aromas and flavors that I like in porter, with a very smooth body. Highly drinkable. These guys really know how to work with malt. Dark brown. This was actually poured with a thin head - a nice change of pace. The aroma is chocolatey, maybe a bit of roast. On the palate, it has a more toasty, chocolatey accent. The mouthfeel is creamy, and there’s a bit of dryness from hops to balance the creamy malt sugars. Not perfect - there’s a bit of huskiness late - but it’s pretty nice. drjay44 (3710) - Salida, Colorado, USA - OCT 10, 2009
Sampler at the brewery. 5.2% ABV. Pours a thin head over a dark brown (SRM 35) clear body.....nose of coffee, chocolate, bit of spicy hop......taste heavy in roasted malts (coffee, cocoa), with a lingering mild hop bitterness....mouth feel was rather light, carbonation low. Overall this was a rather light Porter. The basic flavors of the malt back bone were there but there was much missing in the depth of flavors and textures Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - MAY 8, 2004
Dark brown with almost no head. Choco-coffee aroma. Woody-bitter flavors, with smoky overtones. OK. MrRomero (1976) - Nolanville, USA - APR 27, 2004
Pours very dark brown, maybe black with a medium tan head. Medium hopped, coffee aroma. Served way too cold. Lightly sour and bitter finish. Medium roasted malt flavor. A nice porter.
