Revival of one of Antwerp’s original historical Ale, that dates back to the 17th century, brewed as local style by dozens of breweries and disappeared during WWI. Brewed with Buckwheat, oats, wheat and barley, Belgian hops and the retrieved historical ale. Bottled unfiltered after a 7 week aging and maturation, with a second fermentation in the bottle. Winner of Gold Medal/ title World’s Best at World Beer Cup 2012, World Beer Cup 2013-2014-2015, Global Craft Beer Awards 2014 and Brussels Beer Challenge 2015.

This beer is marketed pretty intensive in Belgium, and with the story behind it,I was expecting something decent. However, the dissapointment was shocking ( ok, maybe a little exagerated). I really did not like the combination of the doughy;very sweet taste together with the sourness. However,in due time I will try it again and update the review.

330 ml bottle in Brussels. Hazy blond beer with thin white head. Aroma and taste are grainy, almost spicy malt notes, soft and mellow yeast with grassy herby hop notes.

Bottle 33cl. Golden with a white head. Interesting combination of typical wheat taste with some ale tones. Not sure it’s my taste. Not bad at all, though. Medium lengh.

Lekker biertje, beetje bitter. Verder goed te drinken. Net voldoende smaak, voor herhaling vatbaar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flesje thuis gedronken. Goudgeel, licht troebel bier met matig schuim. Geur en smaak van mout en gist. Weinig nasmaak.

Bottle, 330 ml, courtesy of and shared with JFK10000. Clear golden, medium white head. Perfumy, sweet, yeasty, some fruit. Soft carbonation. Medium bodied.

Pours hazy ochre/blonde with a lasting, lacing-leaving, foamy, white head. The aroma contains wheat, citrus, lemon peel, yeast, hay and bread. It tastes light sweet and light to medium bitter with a long, dry finish. Creamy texture and fizzy carbonation. Balancing somewhere between a Witbier and a Hefeweizen, with an authentic feel to it. Good.

From the bottle poured into snifter. Pours cloudy yellow with intense white head. Yeasty spicy nose, Cloves. Taste is yeasty watery, slightly citric.

Lichtgeel, troebel, veel gist, witte schuimkraag, veel koolzuur. Aroma: Tarwemouten, gist, banaan, bubblegum, koriander, kruidnagel, zoetig. Aroma van een witbier. Smaak: Citrus, koriander, banaan, fruitig.

Smells much more like a sour beer than I thought it would, little bit of sweetness in there too...Taste is similar...Like a sour beer without the Sourness... Interesting...Some complexity and smooth but the flavor isn’t really my type...Finish is medium sweet flowers

From bottle. With white small cap. Strong yeast taste. Yellow color. Like leffe.
