500ml bottle [flotsam and jetsam of bartlebier origin, thanks a lot!]. Clear, light nutbrown colour with average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Slightly sweet-ish and minimally dusty aroma, hints of carrot and treacle, a touch of watery coffee surrogate, celery. Taste is minimally sweet-ish malty, doughy, diluted hints of pumperickel, treacle, cautious peppery spiciness in celery direction. Geiserich (4545) - Linz, AUSTRIA - JUN 14, 2016

Bottle. Appearance: beautiful clear copper colour with thick beige foam. Aroma: enticing but not very strong, mainly caramel, roasted malts and dried apricots. Taste: intensely sweet, lots of malts, caramel, candy sugar, a bit of spices, hint of wood. There’s a small hop presence at the end but the aftertaste is sweet. Alcohol presence. Medium body. Low carbonation. A very interesting, ’medieval’ ale! daniele (9463) - ITALY - MAY 12, 2015

50cl fliptop bb06/2014, local BS schoonouders zij dank, - from the well past its prime case. Suffused Malzbonbon and dark caramel in aroma are translated with Lower Saxony literalness into even more full-fledged HQ malt caramels, dulled pear sirup, barley husk astringency and even a late aromatic hop edge. Fascinatingly linear for an ale, as the yeast profile is flat & flabby as in a lager here. Surprised to learn this survived, but ultimately just like a liquid malt caramel sweet - would like to taste a really traditional, non-Reinheitsgebot conform historical incarnation of this. Bottle from Avenir, deep brown with a thin white head, malt and toffee nose plus faint hints of sultanas and vanilla. Rich and dry-sweet, with light peppery hops and notes of caramelised peach. Not as sweet as I’d feared, though yes, there is a slight cloying edge alongside the burnt sugar and light hoppy bitterness. bjakk (798) - Skagafjordur, ICELAND - JUN 8, 2014
Golden with thick foam. The aroma is malty and mildly sour (not much of an aroma). Malt, Toffee with sweet toffy bitterness in the aftertaste.
