Ritzn (1984) - GERMANY - DEC 19, 2017
Dark amber. Aroma is treber, earthy, grass, dried leaves, not very buttery. Taste is grassy sharpness, with buttery chewiness, quite balanced, a bit of green tree juice. Leaves a tart grassy hinge in your throat. Not super satisfying. Still very good.

Bottle from the brewery, 10days after being bottled, many thanks MoritzF! Beautiful deep ruby-amber color with creamy off-white head (this would deserve a 6 in Appearance). Aroma is bready, some young sulphuric Zwickel flavours, a touch chocolate and earthy. Taste is caramely, earthy, rustic, extremely moreish. Silky mouthfeel with natural carbonation. The aftertaste does not match the "more" craving directly before swallowing, it's kinda roasted and rough. Extremely moreish, and even tastier than their Danzbier Hell - at least from the bottle.

Pour from the fermentation tank @ the brewery. Hazy amber pour with a frothy offwhite head. Malty, herbal & floral nose with rustic sourdough bread, caramel & those same lovely floral German hops as the danzbier. Honey, dried flowers, hay & minerals. Very light wood & citrus zest. Slightly sweet, bitter, malty, herbal & floral taste. Soft, round & tiny astringent mouthfeel. Spot on perfect balance between the malts & hops. Absolutely mindblowing!

Draught at the brewery in Seinsheim, Germany. Hazy amber beer with a nice lasting offwhite/beige head. Malty breadyaroma, cereal notes, toffee, slightly roasted malts, hazelnuts, almonds, dark bread notes, tiny hops. Dark bread flavor, grassy, chocolate notes, cereal, biscuit notes, caramel, fruity, grapes and some faint citrus, toffee notes, some raisins. Great complex beer still with huge drinkability.

Phantastisch.

TAR (2802) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - OCT 17, 2014
Draught at the Seinsheimer Kellerbräu in Aug. 2014: Hazy ruby. Lathery off-white cream adorns the glass with plentiful lace. Complex pastry-rich malt aromatics of cookie, poundcake, breadcrust, melanoidins, plum jam, raisin, pecan and minerals. Underlying touch of licorice-like Spalt. Luxuriantly lush, soft, and fine carbonation. Captivatingly candyish and fatly malty, with a body that’s dripping with caramelized sugars. Sharp breadcrust cuts through the sappy licorice-tinged Spalt oils and melanoidin-laden body. Plum jam esters augment the core and reinforce the remarkably succulent melanoidins. Profusion of toasty dextrins dovetail with rich and refined pils-derived hay dust and a punch of minerals, further aiding the body’s core with a satiating fullness while mopping up the sugars. Slick cara maltiness is edgeless in its silky sweetness. Hushed note of Turkish apricot lends its jammy suppleness and bright sugars as it extends from the pervasive sappiness. Nutty toast pokes through the sweetness and adds welcomed contrast. Finishes replete with hay dust and a vanilla cookie crispness, yet fully malty with a beefy poundcake richness. If you prefer your kellerbier to be brimming with character and nuance matched by boundless malt complexity, Frank’s beers will leave you spellbound. As with his Sasemer Danzbier Hell, this is an extraordinarily beautiful creation.

3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 15, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2014 From draft at Seinsheimer Kellerbrau in Seinsheim. Hazy chestnut brown body with rich red hues and a creamy tan colored head.
Here we have an incredibly rich, malty dunkles kellerbier with an expressive core of toasted, just-burnt bread crustiness with accents of apple pastry, shaved almond and nougat. Juicy, sweet and succulent in the mouth, delivered by fine, low, natural carbonation... soft and velvety, with a seemingly infinite finish. Caramelized, rich, sweet and toasty with subtle underlying hop bitterness. Very rustic rendition that speaks Oberpfalzer Zoiglbier.

Würzig dunkler Antrunk mit einem ordentlichen Hopfenanteil. Volle Karamellnoten, herrlich vollmundig und frisch, erdiig, nussig, spitze! 12/13/13/13//13
