On tap at the brewery. Mild dusty grainy wheat aroma. A bit of estery banana but not really strong, followed by some off-tang. Dark reddish amber clear with off-white lacing head. Medium heavy watery body with medium-light carbonation. Good wheaty maltiness. Light acid malt tang and some malted chocolate milk. Has a little funkiness to it. Very little bitterness at all, with juicy raisin finish. Tangy raisin after with bit of banana.
Served on-tap at the brewpub.
A - Pours deep brown with a fluffy one finger tall off white head leaving light lace down the glass.
S - Smells of bready wheat, light spice, bananas, clove and bubblegum. Not much sweetness initially but it really revs up as it sits in the glass.
T - Starts off with a bunch of chewy wheat slowly giving way to hints of bananas, spicy clove and bubblegum. The sweetness builds up as it comes to room temperature. Finish is a little chewy with some sweetness, lingering on the pallet for some time.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Kinda chewy initially growing a little sweeter as it warms up in the glass.
O - I enjoyed this one but I doubt I would drink more than one. After about half the glass it became a chore to finish. sonnycheeba (6342) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 4, 2012

On tap at the brewpub. Reviewed from notes.
Pours a nice moderate caramel color with a tiny pit of an off white head and not too much lacing. The nose brings forward caramel and some light, sweet malts along with a bit of clove alongside some banana. The taste is definitely dominated by the yeast with some banana, bubblegum, and a bit of spice. Some lightly-toasted bread and caramel in the background. Good light mouthfeel with nice carbonation.

On tap @ Brewpub on 2nd visit. Poured clear brown. Spice, wheat, clove nose. Taste was clove, wheat and caramel. Palate was surprisingly watery. However, a nice Dunkelweizen CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAR 12, 2009
Pours a transparent hazy dark copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet, toasty caramel malt and lemony citrus with some clove complexity and authentic German yeastiness. Starts with good fullness and sweet dark caramel German malt with a smooth bready yeasty character. Finishes smooth and semi-sweet with a peppery clove balance. A nice dunkelweizen. tronraner (2459) - Walland, Tennessee, USA - MAR 2, 2009
Draught at the brewpub. Pours burnt orange with thin beige head. The aroma is soft banana and clove, burnt caramel, some chocolate hints, and some woody notes. The flavor is banana, earth, some bitter chocolate, clove, anise and pepper. It has a nice mellow yeastiness and good balance. There’s just a touch of lemony hops in the finish. I enjoyed this one.
