Served on-tap at the Brewpub.
A - Pours clear copper orange with a nice one finger tall white head leaving spotty streaks of thin, sticky lace down parts of the glass.
S - Smells of caramel, toffee, dulled fruit, lightly toasted bready malt and a weird buttery aroma developing toward the end of the glass. Pretty muted throughout.
T - Starts off with some light caramel malt sweetness slowly giving way to hints of lightly toasted chewy grain, toffee, dulled fruit and some faint spiciness. The weird buttery note from the nose is develops in the taste as well. Finish is a little watery with some light sweetness, not lingering on the palate for very long.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth feel initially going a little watery toward the end of the glass.
O - Not a bad beer but compared to their other beers this is a letdown. It has some weird flavors/aromas that should not be there and it needs some more maltiness. I will give it another try next year but not a good one so far.
Draft at brewpub. Pours brown with a thin khaki head with no lacing. Slight note of caramel on the nose. Weird taste on the tongue. It’s bitter but it finishes clean. One of my least favorite beers here. callmemickey (4543) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 8, 2012
On tap during the (rainy) 2009 Market Street Festival
A: Nice cuprous-amber body. Slight frothy white head. Spotty lacing followed the light skim all the way down the glass.
S: Solid dose of caramel malt, fresh baked bread and slightly spicy spalt hops. Pronounced, but not powerful.
T: This is a real nice malty brew that doesn’t weigh you down in its sweet-breadyness. Good caramel punch. Nice hop complement. Grassy and spicy.
M: Medium bodied. Good carbonation. Smooth lead up to a gentle bite at the finish.
D: Went quite well with the weather actually. The malt warmed me up a bit after coming in from the dreary weather and a three hour trip up here.

On draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy orange amber with a medium beige head. Aroma of sweet tea, light malts, grains and candied sugar. Taste of sweetened tea, light malts, grains< candied sugar, and honey.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Aroma of generic sweet malt. It is not very aromatic to be honest. Flavor of light sweet malt and bitter hops. Not much flavor here. It is probably middle of the road for an oktoberfest.

Draft pint at the brewery.Unfiltered dark honey colored body with a white head. First taste is frothy, semi-sweet, heavy for the style but smooth and unabrasive. Fresh as well. Nose is a bit doughy, with heavy toast notes, but doesn’t have any of the squash notes that are more common in US-made marzen. There’s the heavy caramel malt, though, with some twangy corn and some stale malt flavors as well. Good overall, but pretty far from the true style, and only slightly as far from the US styled marzen beers. Over time there’s some chewy cherry and caramel flavors malts, very full on the palate, and the light bitterness in the finish from the Hallertau is nice. pbjclimber (150) - Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 27, 2006
Growler: Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a nice tan head. Taste is of a malt backround with some caramel malts present and there is a decent amount of hops present. Tap at Brewpub. Slightly hazy dark copper color with a small off-white head. Nice Munich malt nose, sweet with a light Hallertauer hop aroma. Caramel malt dominated flavor with a soft dry finish with moderate bitterness. Medium bodied with soft fine carbonation. Pretty nice example of a German Fest, true to style and not overly sweet. Ok for an oktoberfest. Had a slight fruitiness to the aroma. Lightly hopped with nice light caramel sweetness, and some munich malts. Light toastiness in the middle and a crisp finish.
