[5666-20130817] Tap. Mild smoky meat house wood aroma. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Smoked sauna wood planks flavour. Medium-full body. Interesting, not bad but it doesn’t appeal to me. (6/3/5/3/13) 3.0

Pours an opaque amber with a thin off white head. Aroma has nice light smokiness like campfire bordering on bacon. Flavor has light fruity/malty notes beneath awesome smokiness. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with an earthy/smoky dry finish. Awesome beer!

Draft. Brown pour with some fading head. Very smoky aroma with light malt undertones. Wood and smokey flavor dominate but don’t overpower malt tones, best smoked I’ve had not made in Germany.

2013-08-17. Crisp amber body with a large creamy beige head. Aroma is softly smokey over sweet mild malt. 6+ Flavour is mild at first, caramel malt notes turn moderately sour and tangy. Lightly smokey. 6+ Average to light bodied palate, soft carbonation. Okay, it is a decent beer that is not to my own tastes. On tap at the brewpub

Draft. Pours amber with a beige head. Strong smokey base, light toffee and rye bready notes. Pretty intense smoke profile. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Lovely campfire and sweet malt. Medium bodied, nice smoke with a bit of salinity and umami. Long campfire smoke on the finish. Very nice. Awesome with the spicy gazpacho.

Tap and growler. Pours a clear dark amber body with a small frothy off-white head that fell to a thin ring. Looks rather thick, heavy, and clingy. The nose is surprisingly smoky, I wasn’t expecting it to be this smoke-forward since it’s the first Smoked beer from them. The flavor really melds the best qualities of a Bock and a Smoked beer, there’s a great clean well-lagered sweetness up front with a great lingering smokiness that dominates on the back end. Nowhere near the intense smoke of a Schlenkerla Ur-bock, but it kind of reminds me of it, in that it’s so clean and lacking in off-flavors. Lingering meaty smoke note. Medium bodied, almost chewy, with soft fizzty carbonation. Pretty great beer, one of my favorites from Selins Grove, even if it doesn’t rate super high. It’s one that I’d drink every time I’m there if they made this a regular.

Draft from brewpub. Pouts light brown with a thin white head. Has notes of caramel and smoke on the nose. Malty with a bit of sweetness on the tongue. Finishes is smooth and it lingers a bit. Solid not spectacular but drinkable.

Draft at Selins Grove Brew Pub with PJ and Steve. Pours a light amber body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is smoke, sweet fruit and light earthy leather. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of light smoke, sweet fruity malts, earthy tones, caramel malt, and faint wheat. Great smoked beer.
