Pours hazy pale amber with two fingers of off-white tight head, excellent retention, moderate lacing (4/5). Nose is pine resin and floral hops, caramel malt, hint of musty funk (7/10). Taste is hop forward with moderate caramel sweetness, finishing bitter (7/10). Medium body, moderate to low sustained carbonation, with a lingering hoppy bitter finish (4/5).
I’m not sure that this entirely succeeds as a "Belgian IPA" - there is very little traditional Belgian yeast character here. There’s hint of cellar mustiness on the initial pour, but other than that, the nose and tongue are very much American DIPA pine resin. Not that that’s a bad thing, you understand, but I prefer accurate labelling... Though, I guess to be fair they call it a “belgian style india pale ale”, so one might argue it’s not intended to be overtly Belgian in nature. Pleasant enough regardless, and only a slight hint of booziness towards the end of the bottle.(15/20) nealblind (1864) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - SEP 26, 2014
Amber pour. Aroma honey hops slight belgian yeast. Tastes tangerine, grass, creamy. Mostly is an IPA. Belgian character is very slight. Fatehunter (2567) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - SEP 14, 2014
Pours a half finger of head on a cloudy dark straw colored body.
The aroma is danky pine, lemon and pineapple.
Despite the high bitter content, the malty sweetness is ever-present. It has some nice spice with some tropical fruit in the background too.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.

Bottle. Golden orange, cloudy and virtually opaque, with a holding pile of off-white foam. The aroma is downright Flemish ... this brims with fruity esthers and a bready yeast layer, then follows with a very tight spike of acidic hop in the finish. Good stuff. Pours a hazy copper in color with a finger of off white head. Initial pine and grapefruit aromas with a subtle hint of bubblegum. Earthy and bubblegum flavors from the belgian yeast. Caramel notes come through as well as pine and slight hop bite.

Rich, hazy deep copper and amber coloured body with a dense, single centimetre tall tan microfoamed head. Aroma of pungent earthy and nutty hops, caramel, hints of resin and a big floral character with plenty of yeast throughout. Medium-bodied; Strong hop notes hit up front with resin and pine showing through and a good, but not unique yeast character coupled with some nice malts that create a silky body. Aftertaste shows a good balance of hops versus the malt, but the floral and perfumey character is perhaps a bit outweighing the yeast and dryness that I’d expect from the style. Overall, a very good beer, all things considered - not the best I’ve had in this style, but a good option and showing plenty of complexity and depth, even if all the flavours didn’t work perfectly to me. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 27-July-2014 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington exactly one month later on 27-August-2014. UPDATED: AUG 17, 2014 22oz Bottle. Cloudy, murky even. orange amber. Malty aroma with lots of fruity Belgian notes. Carmel and dark fruit, mild bitterness. Fairly sweet and lots of nice smooth flavors. The ABV seems higher than stated. A bit boozy Very nice over all gururyan (727) - Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA - JUL 19, 2014
From bottle into snifter, pours an amazing hue of slightly hazy orange with a thick, frothy head that lingers. Aroma is clean and fruity and the taste is so well balanced...best Belgian IPA I've had in forever. So smooth, no alcohol detected despite being 8.2%. This was a shot in the dark, but turned out to be a double-bullseye. Very good.
