nice little porter that had a heavier than usuall roast (and a touch less caramel) for the style - ended up being better and more robust than the oatmeal stout.

Not much in the aroma. Looks nice. This is pretty good. A pretty noticeable chocolate flavor, it not over-roasted or nutty. Good.

brokensail (16645) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 12, 2012
A black pour with a small khaki head. Somewhat roasty, but also fairly acidic. Some dark fruits, a little dark chocolate, and some coffee, too. The flavor is a bit acidic, too. Roasted malt, dark fruits, and someplace a sweetness. A touch of coffee and a mild bitterness to the beer.

On tap at the West Coast Brewfest. Pours black with a thin tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a dark molasses flavor with a dry finish.

Draft at brewery. Pours very dark brown, almost black with a thin sandy white head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor is milk chocolate, some sweet and roasted malt with a dry malty aftertaste. A little dark fruit in the finish. Great mouthfeel, a very nice porter.

Draft. Black beer w ith a light tan head. Light roasty, coffee aroma. Coffee, roast, and malt flavor. Medium body. Coffee, roast, and malt linger. Some chocolate, but didn’t get as much as others.

Sampled at West Coast Brew Fest ’08 ~Pours black with diminishing off white head. ~Smokey roasted malt scent. ~Taste is smokey and chocatey bitter. Some sweetness, but not much. ~ Dry and smooth ~ This is a decent porter. It didn’t really have anything that stood out to me.

bhensonb (15743) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 18, 2008
Draft at WCBF 2008. Black/brown color with a huge tan head. Semifloral aroma. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Chocolate notes over near toasted malt. Finish is fairly dry.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2009 On tap at the brewery. roasted malt. pretty dark for a porter, enough chocolate to make it seem like a porter and not a stout. a little watery but not bad. straight forward textbook porter with a little bit of tasty hops. probably the best of their regular beers on tap.
