UPDATED: JUN 4, 2009 Draught at Kortyolda, Miskolc. Clear reddish amber, creamyhead. Lightly vinous nose with lots of caramel. Soft and gentle with medium-full body. Gentle caramel and fruit. The Tokaji aszu spreads it’s mild noble vinous sweetness. Finishes warming with low bitterness. Quite brilliant beer, and very exciting for being a Hungarian microbrew.

Draught at Kortyolda, Miskolc, Hungary.
Clear amber colour with big fluffy white head. Dry earthy malty aroma with moldy fruitiness. Dry moldy cellar, malt and mild fruitiness in very dry flavour.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 My Bottom Line:
The honeyed and floral sweet grape nature of Tokaji Aszu melds with the caramelized cereals in this well-rounded and mildly tart creation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam crowns the iridescent honeyed amber.
-Everthing is clean, but I do not think the cereal flavors and the sweet grapes are that harmonious, really.
-The tart vinous twang works with the sweet cereals.
-There are lots of tiny bubbles. This plastic bottle held up fine!
-No doubt this is a very original and well-executed recipe, but I do not think I would drink often if it were available to me.

1-liter plastic bottle. Many thanks Armando!!

Draught at Főzdefeszt III, Budapest. Pale amber coloured, small off-white head, mild honeyish fruity nose. Sweet malty, light caramel and subdued fruity taste with notes of caramel and hint of alcohol and pepper in the finish. Didn’t like it.

Tap at Kortyolda. Even greater tragedy than the dark beer. Earthy vegetables (DMS) right from first whiff all the way through into the finish. Joined by weird sourness in taste. Clear amber colour. Really bad.

Draught at the F-Fest. Dark golden-amber body with a small white head. Very subtle malty nose. Metallic sweet honeyish nose. Malty, sweet yeasty taste with notes of caramel, grainy, but no real vinuous notes... odd - will rerate one day. Ok beer overall.

1 L PET-bottle. Thanks Gergely/armando629. Crystal clear, pale ruby colour with low, bubbly off-white foam. Butterscotch dominates the aroma, but there are woody and vineous notes as well along with a dash of caramel. Body is oily with butterscotch clearly present, a la Czech Pilsner, and light caramel touch. The vineous influence here is almost non-existing. Low bitterness.

04/08 On tap @Eleszto, Budapest. Hazy copper colored with almost no head and almost no aroma; some fine toast malty notes. Flavor is lightly vinous, tokaji barrel aging, as explained by the waiter, was more than evident. (or extract as stated here, whatever is correct) Shows also some light caramel notes and a bit of yeast. Medium to full bodied, generally sweet after initial sourness with long, sweetish finish that rounds this experience very nicely. Pleasant beer, would score higher if it wasn’t so shy in the aroma.

Lore (2746) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUN 8, 2014
dark orange-brown colour, moderate sized off-white head; aroma and taste of malty sweetness, caramel, some raisin, honey, floral notes and bread; correct beer

msbernac (2617) - Krakow, POLAND - NOV 10, 2014
Draught Aroma-fruits, smoke, Appearance-golden, clear, white foam, Taste-light sweetness, lightly sour, Palate-light body, thin feel, soft carbonation, abrupt finish Overall-not bad
