Bottle from Cologne Kiosk shop in Cologne. Pours clear and golden with the a small short lasting white head. Aroma more of malt and caramel than the other Kolsch I’ve had so far on this trip. Medium sweetness but also with a level of bitterness again not experienced in the others. Light-medium body, sticky texture, light carbonation. Finish has a bittersweet edge. Enjoyed this. Bottle. Like a lager, but lacked the hop bite of german pils. This was smoother with notes of honey. Nothing bad at all!
Test vom 12.10.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche

The 50cl bottle pours out crystal clear gold with a short lived slightly loose head of foam. The aroma offers up some mild floral to spicy hops and a bit of malt sweetness. The taste delivers a pleasing floral to spicy hoppiness to slightly lime hop bitterness mixed with just a touch of hop flavor as sweet malts fill in the gaps to midway. Into the finish it picks up a bit of breadiness and some sweet estery lagery fruitiness.
This is a bit on the sweet side but pretty good compared to attempts at this style I’ve had in the States.

Golden, white head. Smells of hay, malts, dust and hints of yeast. Light sweet, crisp, dry for an ale. Medium bitter, spicy, hoppy with a touch of grass. A superb kölsch
(Sester Kölsch) Bottle 500 ml at home, served into a kolsch glass, ABV 4.8%
Deep golden yellow colour on the body, with good activity in it. Almost two fingers of white, thick head, which in a kolsch glass is like half full with foam. Kidding. Very good retention, heavy lacing on the glass.
Aroma is a bit fruity, apple like notes, then the usual grass and straw.
Tastes fresh, light grass, a bit malty on the finish, light apple juice.
Medium thin body, good carbonation.
Much better than I expected.

i quite liked it, dry slightly hoppyness, a bit resiny, well balanced and dry, but lacks a bit of complexity and variance in flavour.
