Strong, assertively hoppy and dangerously seductive. A skillful blendo of three premium barley malts with generous amounts of northern brewer and cascade hops. Ironic Ale is a highly aromatic India Pale Ale with an inviting bitterness.

Pours deep copper with off white head. Moderate lacing. Aroma is cirtusy-pine. Hops dominate malt/carmel balance. Not bad.

Draft to taster at Shakespeare’s. Looks good; a transparent golden orange with foamy off-white head. Smells of pale malt and hops (in that order). Tastes like it smells with a bit of grain. Average on the palate. Not bad.

Had on draft at shakespeare’s pub in kalamazoo, mich. This is now brewed by short’s specifically for shakespeare’s. This is nearly identical to short’s hangin frank. This is a fantastic ipa and i’m really diggin’ the roasted malt. Well done.

Bottle courtesy of patrick767. Small ivory head that mostly diminished, splotchy amount of lacing, hazy, and an orange brown hue. Nose was hoppy, malty, and grapefruit. Ditto for the flavor except the maltiness wasn’t as noticeable as it was in the nose. Fairly smooth mouthfeel and medium body. This beer seemed to be off-kilter IMO. It just didn’t come together given the style. Not impressed with this one.

This bottled brew from Patrick767 at a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to large sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy with fine particulate softly carbonated and a good lacing. The aroma was malty musty and dough. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting malty aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt hops and dough. The flavor was slightly off tasting. An OK brew just nothing special.

Out of a bottle that I think patrick767 brought. Fresh cascade hop nose. Creamy tan head. The flavor is a raw hop juice over some bready malts. Seems a little disjointed. Finish is a fuzzy, bitter orange peel.

bottle - Pours copper with a thin, lingering head that has good lacing. It has a nice grapefruit hops aroma. The flavor is sharp hops with not a lot of malt backing. To me the balance is off and the finish has a somewhat off taste to it. They nailed the aroma, but the taste and palate is lacking.

Now this is my kind of an IPA... which is undoubtedly why it’s not available in the Chicago area. My life works that way. Anywhat - The pour is typical, a hazy amber body with a hefty, rocky head that does some uneven lacing. The aroma - Nice. Sturdy PNW hopping (pine resin, grapefruit, tangerine...) over sweet caramel malt. Those malts are needed to support the onslaught of hop bitterness, more intense than some of the DIPAs that I’ve had lately. (frankenkitty mistakingly gave me the good bottle!) Refreshingly prolonged bitter finish. Good stuff.

Pours a light-hazed deep amber body, holding a large, rocky, yellowhite head which leaves a fat spackle of lace. PNWs compose the bulk of the aroma with pine, grapefruit and an orange essence that occasionally rings of Tang. After an IPA-quality nose, I’m a little let down by the subdued hoppiness in the flavor, but this is still a pretty quaffable Pale Ale. Satisfying body, finishing dry.

Pours a light orange color with a off white head. Aroma is malty with some nice hoppiness to it. Flavor is slightly roasty with a bitter hoppy finish.
