Sweet caramel aroma compliments slight grassiness. Hazy orange amber in color with a nice white head. Lots of iced tea in the flavor, earthy hops, citric twang, and a stiff malt base with loads of caramel. Fairly rich in body. It’s quite good! Plus…huge props for the Quentin Tarantino sketch on the label. Thanks Brad. manny57 (162) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 14, 2010
Had on draft at shakespeare’s pub in kalamazoo, mich. This is now brewed by short’s specifically for shakespeare’s. This is nearly identical to short’s hangin frank. This is a fantastic ipa and i’m really diggin’ the roasted malt. Well done. Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUL 30, 2007
Now this is my kind of an IPA... which is undoubtedly why it’s not available in the Chicago area. My life works that way. Anywhat - The pour is typical, a hazy amber body with a hefty, rocky head that does some uneven lacing. The aroma - Nice. Sturdy PNW hopping (pine resin, grapefruit, tangerine...) over sweet caramel malt. Those malts are needed to support the onslaught of hop bitterness, more intense than some of the DIPAs that I’ve had lately. (frankenkitty mistakingly gave me the good bottle!) Refreshingly prolonged bitter finish. Good stuff.CaptainCougar (7634) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 21, 2007

Bottle thanks to Brigadier: Pours a slightly hazy copper orange with a nice, frothy-lacing off-white head. Aroma has some nice fresh citrusy hops and a touch of toasty pale malt. Body starts with good fresh grapefruity hoppy flavor balanced with a nice caramely malty presence. Drier, flavorful, finish leaves some lingering hop resin. A nice IPA. goldtwins (4319) - Nesconset, New York, USA - APR 21, 2007
Poured a clear amber color with a large long lasting off-white head. The aroma is citrus and pine balanced by sweet caramel. Decent ctirus with a light malt and good bitter backing on a dry finish.

Pours a light-hazed deep amber body, holding a large, rocky, yellowhite head which leaves a fat spackle of lace. PNWs compose the bulk of the aroma
with pine, grapefruit and an orange essence that occasionally rings of Tang. After an IPA-quality nose, I’m a little let down by the subdued hoppiness in the flavor, but this is still a pretty quaffable Pale Ale. Satisfying body, finishing dry.

Brewed for Shakespeare’s Pub in Kalamazoo by Michigan Brewing Co. Bottle: hazy orange-brown body, thick dissipating cream head that leaves nice lacing. Bitter, citrusy hops nose with heavy, sweet caramely malts. Bitter, sharp hops slam the palate with notes of citrus and perfume. Caramely, sweet malts lend heft to the beer but play second fiddle to the intense hopping. This is an interesting departure from MBC’s own hoppy beers. kp (10880) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2007
