A traditional light brown coloured beer. Not miserly or miserable, but provides plenty of Christmas cheer with a subtle sweet palate and bitter finish.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2014 - London. Pours clear orange-gold with a foamy white head. The nose holds baked grains, faint dried orange, hints of spice. Light sweet flavor with dry and bready malts, some toasted sugars, earth. Light in body with fine carbonation; good condition. OK balance towards the finale, with some vague citrus notes, bread, subtle toffee, crackers. Fine.

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear ’14, day 1, 02/12/14.
Hazed copper amber with a decent egg shell white covering.
Nose is earthy, light smoke, straw, twiggy, dull fruit.
Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, spice, toffee, malt.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light charr in a drying close.
So so.

Well this made me chuckle. The English brewery has unwittingly produced an ale in homage of one of the most prestigious pubs in the USA. Appearance is a white head with chestnut brown colour. Aroma is toffee, chestnuts, marmalade, some wood fire, pears. Taste is toffee, pears, apples, wood, blackcurrants and honey. Incredibly sweet malts.

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear 2014. It pours clear deep amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, caramel, dried fruits, wood, oil and leather. The taste is bitter, woody, leather, earth, mild spice, resin, citrus peel, soap and decent bitter bite with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Rather OK.

Hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Palate starts soft turning mildly minerally crisp. Obvious sweet malt, semi dry and airy. Minor note of English hop tang in the minerally finish. Okay.
