Not sure why this beer is retired: it’s the first thing on the menu at the Donghu Lu location! Deep orange. Opaque. Large, puffy head that recedes quite quickly. Aroma is huge: tonnes of banana bread. Taste is much of the same with lots of lemon and a bit of vanilla. Too watery. Generally inconsistent despite the great aroma.

smooth, light refreshing mouth, but odd after taste that tastes like the beer used dishwater from rinsing Kung pao chicken off a plate. Really strange finish. Odd thing to say but really distinctively Chinese

Hazy appearance, small head. Fruity with mild banana yeast aroma and some herbs. Tasty Hefeweizen.

Draft. Pours a hazy orange. Mild aroma of wheat and fruits. Taste is similar to the aroma, not a strong tasting beer.

Draught. Pours a hazy medium orange with a white head. Fruity, spicy aroma, citrus, cloves, yeast, phenols. Dry,light in both body and bitterness. Spicy, yeasty taste, citrus, cloves, phenols. A bit thin, but drinkable. (2013-03-10)

not a bad weizen. amber color, frothy head. bready aroma. taste is bready and has a undertone of fruit. none of the subtleties that the superior wheat beers have. the hefeweizen at this brewery is more interesting.

I like the subtle flavours of wheat and sweetness here. It doesn’t overpower, but is nice and tasty.

The weaker entry of the two hefeweizens at Shanghai Brewery. Slightly tart, but mostly watery.

Draught@ Shanghai Brewery. Hazy blond coloured beer with a short white head and no carbonation. Liht wheat hinted aroma with some nice fruity hints. Medium light creamy palate. Finish is banana fruity light yeasty and short herby touched. Not bad actually. A decent weizen.

Nose is very estery, with some fruit juice... apple? Big head, nice lacing. Taste is estery apple juice, no bite at all. Mouthfeel is thick and under-carbonated.
