With the exhaustion of the mining industry Cornwall’s fishing fleet now keeps this bold tradition of commercial seafaring alive albeit bound by fishing quota red tape. Cornish Coaster pays tribute to all those down the centuries who have bravely plied their trade around Cornwall’s rugged coastline.

Cask at Pilgrim’s Progress (JDW), Bedford. Gold with a small white head. Very faint hop aroma. Quite citric with some biscuity malt in the background. Mine was rather too lively. Low bitterness. Somehow this never really comes together.

KnutAlbert (6815) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 1, 2006
Flavoursome bitter, rather fruity, but there is some bitterness in the finish. Quite all right.

leaparsons (10906) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 17, 2006
Cask, Jersey Fest 06. Amber/gold with a small head. Aromas are light caramel malts with lemon and spices. Flavours are light malts with dry tea and hints of lemon. Some dryness on the finish. A fairly fruity yet dull beer.

[Cask at GBBF] Pale amber. Sweaty fruit aroma. Sweet and light bodied sugar water with a vague dash of malt. Dusty finish with rather low bitterness. Dull.

Cask handpull at Pakenham Arms, London. Golden/copper, thin white head. Citrus minerality on aroma.l Nice hops. Bit thin in mouth, then nice drying earthy finish. Nice session bitter.

Mungo (2470) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - SEP 5, 2005
Cask conditioned @ South Western Arms, Soton. Fruit and malt aromas. Thin boring body with an almost acrid flavour.

CornishRob (10) - wadebridge, ENGLAND - AUG 23, 2005
a whole lot of flavour for it’s strength, and you can drive home afterwards. Probably the best driving beer in the world! Not on sale in as many houses as it should be. Top Marks1
