2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Nice toasty aroma, smells hoppy and interesting. But the taste is watery - almost nothing there at all. And it’s weak and oily on the palate. Not up to much - sorry.
UPDATED: DEC 8, 2017 Pre RateBeer review from my notes in a copy of 1001 Beers you must try before you die, where I’ve given it a 5/5. I’ve knocked a point off for two reasons: 1.) my taste, scope and understanding of beer has changed so much since I gave it a five. 2.) unsure if 1.) has anything to do with this but recently, Doom Bar just doesn’t taste as good. I mean, for a British bitter it’s one of the best, but it still feels like something has changed. Maybe I’ll have to buy another bottle haha Hopverdju (1645) - BELGIUM - DEC 1, 2017
Donker roodkoper-kleurig bier met weinig wit schuim. Geur: melkbrood, kandij, licht kruidig. Smaak: licht kruidig, licht moutzoet, zweempje bitter. Licht body. Weinig koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht droog bittertje. deepdrinker (369) - Leeds, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2017 Pale brown in appearance with a malty caramel aroma. Thin white head from bottle, slight lacing. Medium carbonation. Caramel mild bitter taste Salian (167) - Sale, Cheshire, ENGLAND - OCT 28, 2017
Easy drinking, non challenging commercial bitter, no big flavour but malty, oats and biscuits, needs more bitterness. Piepenhenrich (1288) - Steinbach, GERMANY - OCT 14, 2017
Pours amber with off-white head. Light malty flavors, otherwise rather mild in taste, bit watery after all. Not very intense, easy to drink, but not too special.

Bottle 500 ml from Sainsbury's. Aromas of toasted malts and caramel. Big eggshell-white head and clear amber-brown body. Taste is bitter with a creamy texture. Quite mild and watery for a bitter. It's OK and definitely drinkable but I wouldn't buy a Doom Bar to treat myself. alexmate (307) - South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - SEP 4, 2017
One of the most overrated British beers on the market at present. Good looking brown colour with a decent sized head, over-carbonated for my tastes. Taste is big on caramel, toffee and malts, some red fruits in there as well. The over carbonation lead to a sherbet like fizziness which I didn't really like. Worth a go. Bottle at a wedding in Bristol. I used to love this stuff, but either my palate or the beer has changed as I really didn’t like it. Very one dimensional beer with, to me, quite a flavour of caramel. There was a bitterness and some of the biscuity flavour that you get from a good bitter, but overall this was poor. I have learnt that I won’t be buying this again. Amber, iets crèmekleurige schuimkraag, helder, weinig koolzuur.
Aroma : Moutig, licht geroosterd, iets spicy, Zoetig, karamel.
Redelijk. twindadplus2 (743) - Wisconsin, USA - JUL 18, 2017
Pretty basic. light bodied, very mildly bitter with a little malty backbone. It’s simple but easy drinking.
