Cask in a London pub. Clear amber with an oddly reddish beige head. Yeast with faint red berries. Sweet, watery, slightly sour. Malt and bananas. An ok real but not really amber or a bitter as RB classifies it.

To bitter i to zupełnie przeciętny, by nie powiedzieć totalnie nijaki. Niby bittery to takie właśnie piwa, ale praktyka pokazuje, że można zrobić to lepiej. Tutaj delikatna karmelkowa podbudowa słodowa zostawia słodkawe posmaczki, ale całościowo jest dosyć wytrawnie i ziemisto. I nijako.

Ive had several pints of Doom Bar over the years. The first of these, which is not the one rated here, was a very memorable pint at a pub in Cornwall around a decade ago - although I wasnt rating beers then I remember an interesting bitter with a sea salt tang and a really fresh taste. Its either me getting old and jaded, or things have really changed in recent years. Doom Bar seems to be almost ubiquitous in nationwide pubs and is now a very average, dull bitter. Bah humbug and all that.

A rare cask rating for myself. Came free in a local restaurant so what had to lose? Slightly cloudy yellow. A bit dry but quite passable and certainly a lot better than most restaurant beers. Did i read that despite MolsonCoors promises this is now brewed in Burton. Not bad, might even pay for it-I think.
