COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned; Special - brewed once a year but recipe may change from year to year. NOTE: The recipe remained the same, using Hallertauer Brewer’s Gold hops, for the first three years (to 2009). Subsequent years have used a different recipe. PLEASE make sure you note the year and refer to it in your reviews.

Single Brew Reserve is a showcase for the noblest of hops, the Czech Saaz. Whole cone Saaz, fresh from the harvest are used to dry hop the beer during maturation.
Mid golden in colour, this ale has a fresh, herbal lemon aroma. In the mouth, light barley sugars give way to a perfumed bitterness. The finish is dry, clean and exquisitely appetising.

500ml bottle, 2011 vintage, from Romsey Beer Emporium. My 500th Golden/Blond rating.

A fairly explosive opening resulting in half a glass of clear dark straw coloured beering and the rest full of a billowing cream head; the aroma is fresh and the lemony herbalness I associate with Saaz; inthe mouth there are light malts giving a slightly caramelised sweetness; and a fragrant, floral, citrus, perfume that provides a pleasing finish. Rather good.

Bottle from Tesco. Poured a clear, pale golden colour, with a halo of white head. Aroma of citrus, dried fruit and honey. Dough in the flavour, with some light flowery hop and copper. Finish was bready malt, raisins and straw.

fairwater (146) - Reading, Berkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 24, 2013
Bottle - one of a mixed set from the brewery shop. Slightly hazy mid gold, flowery, herbal sweet aroma (peach, elderflower?). Barley sugar sweets, lemon. Quite fizzy - more than I prefer, but it suits this beer, though I maybe should have chilled it lower than 12C. I’m enjoying this one - maybe I should have bought more than one of each...

bhensonb (15493) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 19, 2013
2011 bottle from the Utobeer stall in Borough Market. Pours light golden amber with a creamy/frothy white head. Aroma is lightly citrus over some light caramel. Or it might be expressed as sharply fruity with warm malt. Good aroma. Med body. Flavor is indeed something herby with citrus. It is bitter, the malt is rather light. It’s finishing rather "genteelly" hoppy. Almost delicate. Rare for such a low ABV ale to qualify as a sipper. I’m thinking it could substitute for sherry.

Bottle 500ml.

Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, hay - grass, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, fruity, grass - hay. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, grassy, fruity, fresh. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20121208]
