Named after one of the famous front four trails on Mt. Mansfield, this I.P.A. is brewed in the English tradition of pale ales shipped from Britain, around Africa, to India. Those ales contained extra hops and a higher alcohol percentage, which both served as natural preservatives. This ale holds true to those original, defining characteristics. Formerly "National IPA".

I had it straight from the bottle. The bottle looked pretty sharp. It had a nice hop aroma and taste. The flavor and mouth feel were nice and full. It distinguished itself from your everyday IPA.

Bottle from Epsom Circle Market, Epsom NH. Aroma is herbs, piney hops with hint of natural gas smell and late fruit. Appearance on first pour is clear golden yellow pour with significant sparkling, one finger-width frothy-creamy head wiht good retention and nice lacing. Second pour yielded cloudiness from sediment (it is unfiltered, after all). Taste is mildly sweet fruity start and moderately bitter end. Palate is light-bodied with thin texture, pretty flat in terms of carbonation (how can this be with that much sparkle?) and faint lingering bitter finish. Overall, a nice-looking beer with somewhat interesting though not entirely pleasant aroma, average taste and forgettable palate.

Drank out of a bottle. A great ipa with a nice body. Yes, pine and citrus, nice balance, clean finish, I really liked this beer, I think the mouthfeel was outstanding for an ipa ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle, from 6 pack, somewhere around $7-8ish, poured into 16oz tulip glass

Aroma: light citrus, piney hops

Appearance: Golden to orange, big white head, cloudy, with floaties

Taste: Medium bitter

Palate: light body, dry finish, sticky texture

Overall: Not bad for an IPA, but nothing special either. Easy to drink with an American IPA type of hop selection. Some citrus with some pine. Nice dry finish. Just feels like its lacking something.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a cloudy orange with eggshell head and some ultra-fine sediment at the bottom. Smells of bitter hops with a big bittersweet malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Not bad.

Bottle. Orange-looking amber, fairly opaque, nice head. Subtle hop aroma. Drinks with a firm pillowy mouthfeel and well-balanced delivery of a solid ale base, coupled skillfully with a nice piney hop. (#5828, 10/14/2014)

Au nez, on sent des fleurs, de la fraîcheur et les bleuets. En bouche, c'est assez sucré, un petit goût de miel et de fleurs. L'amertume est légère et agréable. La finale est légère et très douce ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
