COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after one of the famous ’front four’ trails on Mt. Mansfield, this I.P.A. is brewed in the English tradition of pale ales shipped from Britain, around Africa, to India. Those ales contained extra hops and a higher alcohol percentage, which both served as natural preservatives. This ale holds true to those original, defining characteristics. Formerly "National IPA".

Refreshing! Medium bodied beer that’s easy on the palate, leaving a wonderful bitter hoppy note to finish. Great find for the summer! Thanks Mark for recommending this beer. Highly recommended!

Bottle. Pours a copper color with a thin white foam head. Aroma of caramel malt with some muted grapefruit. Sweet resiny taste with hop spice and caramel. The hop spice and grapefruit taste is off a pinch. It an average IPA.

probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 17, 2016
12 oz bottle in a mixed pack at Smugglers Notch. Hazy deep golden with lots of fine floaters and a tight off-white head. Big pine, train and oily citrus, peppery/spicy, a tiny bit of caramel/toffee, old school, medium body, medium-low carbonation, dry with moderate bitterness (surprisingly) and a pine, resin, grapefruit and toffee finish. Old school IPA.

Flaska från Whole Food, Bowery (NYC). Oklar guldfärgad med ett vitt skum. Något trött i både doft och smak, nästan lite orent. Dofter av malt, grapefrukt och halm. Smakinslag av grapefrukt, övermogen frukt och gräs. Medelbeska.

6-pack caché entre 2 lots de Bud dans un Sunoco du Vermont. À mi-chemin entre une ipa et une dia. Bien houblonné, amertume moyenne, goût sucré. Pas pire.

Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of hops, grass, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, straw, and pine needles, leading to a bitter finish.

Good pine aroma and flavor, somewhat bitter with a bit of caramel background. Good beer.

Pours a three finger off-white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Hazy amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light grapefruit hop nose, flavor is grapefruit hops and some caramel malt starts to balance. Not nearly as hoppy as their Profanity ale. Gift.

Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - JUN 19, 2015
Right side of the neck of the bottle reads: 021715, I think that’s born on. This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a hazy golden orange with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a good minute. Light stringy lacing sticks and slides into the beer. The smell takes a lemon zest to cross over a delicate grassy sweetness. Light caramel maltiness balances nicely. The taste has a good balance of sweet to bitter to zest. There’s a nice sweet to zesty citrus aftertaste but no finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs moderately with a good bitterness pounding appropriately. Overall, as an EIPA, its a bit different as the English side of the aroma doesn’t really show, but hey, I’m thinking more AIPA fans might like this one.

Drake (13737) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 14, 2015
12 ounce bottle, 4/13/15. Hazy amber, medium sized foamy off-white head. Good retention. Aroma of minty, herbal hops, eucalyptus, caramel malt. The taste is citrus hops, tea, minty notes, eucalytus, caramel, candied citrus. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness, a bit medicinal. Definitely an odd one. 800th IPA rating!
