An English-style strong ale. This brown ale has great malt depth and drinks like a session beer.

Pours a dark reddish brown. Aroma of syrup and chocolate malts. Taste is syrupy sweet up front with a little spiciness in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

VALIS (235) - Nashua, New Hampshire, USA - APR 1, 2013
Strong malty, candy scent, but without that dark fruit character of most other malty beers. Bitter and sweet, caramel, raisin bread, brown sugar, but stopping well short of sticky sweetness. Interesting.

nice deep brown hint of red appearance . I really enjoyed the maltiness of this; smoother, sweeter less roasted than other brown ales I've tried recently. I really enjoyed it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

First shed I’ve tasted, here’s to you muzzlehatch. On tap at the bocktown. Look is darker brown but not real dark. Barely any aroma. Quite strong on the first taste. Much stronger than anticipated. Yes, seems to kick you back in your seat. Bitterness builds on the sides and back of your tongue but not like ipa. Even seems to be a little viscous towrds the end.

Leighton (22773) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 26, 2013
Bottle at Sander’s place, NYC. Poura hazy red-brown with a fine, creamy head. Some sugary bread in the nose, brown sugar. Big sweet flavor, dried berries, bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light warming finish, brown sugar, bready malts, light earthy bitterness, a bit of earth. OK.

Elwood (3347) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - FEB 25, 2013
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a hazy reddish brown with a small, off white head. Slight plastic esters in the nose. A little sweet and plastic like in the flavor. Some nuttiness but not a lot of character. A bit lifeless on the tongue. It needs to be cleaned up a bit.
