Pretty good brown ale.... hopefully price of 6-pack will decrease in the future. Needs maple!
DATE: January 13, 2018... OCCASION: home from the after-Christmas party at Sara and Brett's... GLASSWARE: Brew at the Zoo pint... pours a dark brown amber body with confident bubbles rushing upward... the head is a half-finger, off-white and razor-thin... strong pine cone aroma, with tea, faint cinnamon, toasted malts, and some earthy tones... smells hearty, like a good accompaniment to a fire... sips with a mild-mannered, medium-bodied constitution... textured from start to finish, with a syrupy, lingering finish... a hoppy, sweet, strong profile that defies its ABV... the toasted malts actually yield to cherries, light almonds and tree nuts, a bit of cough syrup, and the hops promised in its aroma... tough to reconcile its weight, size and flavor--not offish, but also not as welcoming as others in its style... a supped-up brown--punchy and demanding--but the flavor muddles enough to cause confusion... I enjoyed the initial impression, but the beer wears on me as the glass drains... Ron (4258) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 5, 2018
Can. Pours a tea amber color with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted and caramel malts, mixed nuts, and dried leaves. The flavor is the same. Light-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smooth, earthy, sweet mouthfeel. Drinks more like a 5.5% brown ale than a 7.4% strong ale. malrubius (3083) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - NOV 6, 2017
Can from Brewfest Bev. Brown with small tan head. Roasted woody aroma with caramel cola and booze. Medium heavy sweet burnt brown sugar caramel maple syrup and fruit syrup and nuts with medium woody herbal ashy slightly medicinal bitterness. Medium-heavy body medium-low carbo. Pretty close to cloying but the unpleasant long herbal bitterness balances it. Need to give it time to warm up. Yeah, unpleasant. Might have been the rage in 1995. shawnmurphy (666) - Plattsburgh, New York, USA - OCT 29, 2017
12-ounce bottle pours cloudy amber-brown with no head or lacing. Aroma: raisins, brown sugar -- both faint. Flavor: the above, yet more noticeable; with brown bread and lots of nuttiness. Mouthfeel: medium-bodied, slight slick, yet with a dry finish. Kleg (445) - The Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 11, 2017
Draft at Tuckerman's Tavern in Intervale, NH. Mislabeled on the menu as a brown ale. Clear mahogany color with an off-white head and fair retention. Looks and tastes like a strong amber ale. Okay.

6-pk at Stiffler’s. Lively carbonation and a bit of sweet nuttiness come through. Apart from that forgettable on the whole; bit of light wheat or corn, sugary and dark bread. Thin body. Could drink a bunch but eh. NikkTwist (3403) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 31, 2017
UPDATED: JUL 16, 2017 Draft at Macs Tavern in Philly. Clear very dark brown amber pour. Not much head or lace. Modestly hoppy Brown Ale. Not much aroma. Tastes of browned citrus rinds, damp cocoa, cola, sassafras and melon. Semi-glossy finish. Meh. ehaak26 (748) - - DEC 27, 2016

12 oz bottle in a mixed pick at Smugglers Notch. Clear copper with a tight and small tan head. Roasted barley, toast crust, vaguely fruity, slightly vinous, a faint spiciness, lightly sweet, low bitterness, medium body, fine carbonation, sweet treacle finish. Ok.
