chronictonic (472) - Oreland, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2005
I just added this beer and set it to an IPA, even though the name is "Wonton Wheat". It’s certainly not a German Hefeweizen, but I was unsure where else to categorize it. The bartender described it as a "very hoppy wheat", and it was closer to an IPA than a wheat.
Very strong simcoe hop aroma. Piney and thick - almost resiny in aroma. Dark gold in color - frothy head. Flavor was chewy with hops - only a mild bitterness, no astringency - just good, fresh thick hop flavor to match the nose. Finished nice and crisp and clean. The other hop used besides Simcoe was Warrior. Very very good.
