COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle and can: Filtered.
Launched 1958.
Bishops Finger takes its name from the finger-shaped signposts which pointed pilgrims on their way to the tomb of Thomas a Becket in Canterbury and was the first strong ale to be brewed by Shepherd Neame after malt rationing was eased in the late 1950s. It is one of the UK’s oldest bottled beers, brewed since 1958.
Bishops Finger holds EU Protected Geographical Indication, recognising its unique provenance. Uniquely, it is brewed to a charter which states it can only be brewed by the head brewer on a Friday and that it must be brewed using 100% natural ingredients, Kentish hops and barley, and the brewery’s own artesian mineral water.

Can from systembolaget, Östersund. Aroma of pineapple (weirdly enough) but very strong for me. Taste is thick grass / hay, chestnuts, big alcohol (vodka) hit. Very cosy and yummy I must say.

vinivini (2419) - Gomel, BELARUS - MAY 8, 2017
Clear copper ale, moderate well-lacing head. Sweet caramel, biscuit, floral hops and a hint of butter on nose. Similar taste. Hoppy enough. Dry spicy finish. A good ESB.

matoss (77) - Warszawa Ursus, POLAND - APR 21, 2017
W aromacie słody, karmel, lekka ziołowość. Kolor jasny, klarowne, ładne, bez piany. W smaku karmel, słody, na finiszu pojawia się nieco goryczki.

Old tasting notes. Orange color topped by a huge rocky tan head. Nice toffee-like malt aroma. Delicious toasted malt flavor with a big dose of bitter hops to boot. Quite tasty and flavorful.

Eh I’ve had better ESBs but this was alright I suppose. Slightly skunky aromas consisting of wet leaves, cereal, caramel and some toffee. Flavors mostly consist of caramel, toffee and some nuts. Pours a beautiful brown color with a frothy khaki-colored head. Fairly light-bodied with some malty chewiness at the end.
