Launched 1958.
Bishops Finger takes its name from the finger-shaped signposts which pointed pilgrims on their way to the tomb of Thomas a Becket in Canterbury and was the first strong ale to be brewed by Shepherd Neame after malt rationing was eased in the late 1950s. It is one of the UK’s oldest bottled beers, brewed since 1958.
Bishops Finger holds EU Protected Geographical Indication, recognising its unique provenance. Uniquely, it is brewed to a charter which states it can only be brewed by the head brewer on a Friday and that it must be brewed using 100% natural ingredients, Kentish hops and barley, and the brewery’s own artesian mineral water.

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 12/20

Reddish amber colour with nice white head. Aroma has a nice hoppy touch. Flavor is also hoppy with a nice bitter finish.

TorbenJensen (1572) - Valby, DENMARK - NOV 14, 2017
Stable foam. Aroma is caramel, a little raisin and a weak hops. It tastes most of caramel, a little dried fruit and a little bit of chocolate. Typical English hops with notes of grass, orange peel and a little salt.

djcampbell (355) - Moravany, CZECH REPUBLIC - NOV 11, 2017
Zajímavé pivo, které překvapilo příjemným aromatem, silnějším řízem, avšak poměrně nahořklou chutí, která se podle mě k tomuto pivu tolik nehodí. Nicméně i tak poměrně dobré pivko!

Clear brown with medium head; aroma is herbal and spicy hops, caramel, grainy malty; taste is sweet, caramel and chocolate, herbal, low bitter finish; texture is a little sticky with low carbonation and a full body

Juks (1067) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 7, 2017
500ml bottle. Pours clear amber, off-white head stays. Aroma is caramelly, toffee, malty, some fruitiness, apricot. Taste is caramelly, malty, sweeter side. Some bitterness in finish, also butter. Medium bodied, average carbo. Decent ESB, simple.

ianwelby (1525) - SCOTLAND - OCT 15, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 15, 2017 Clear amber beer, thin white head. Light, bitter malty smell. Flavour is tangy fruit, raisins, caramel, bitter malt. Touch watery in the feel but it's distinct and tasty.

Davros IX (500) - Hertford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2017
A deep dark brown in the tankard and a light foam head. The taste was well balanced malt and bitter hops, with a very light sweetness lurking quiety in the background. The mouthfeel was smooth because of all the malt and the alcohol was quite forward. Overall a well balanced ESB. So many are too sweet for my liking, but this had a welcome bitterness from the hops.

Vintherbottom (18) - DENMARK - OCT 8, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 8, 2017 Initial aroma of bread/malt. Head one cm, falls rather quickly. Taste also very malty with some sweetness. But also a bitterness from the hops.
