Launched 1958.
Bishops Finger takes its name from the finger-shaped signposts which pointed pilgrims on their way to the tomb of Thomas a Becket in Canterbury and was the first strong ale to be brewed by Shepherd Neame after malt rationing was eased in the late 1950s. It is one of the UK’s oldest bottled beers, brewed since 1958.
Bishops Finger holds EU Protected Geographical Indication, recognising its unique provenance. Uniquely, it is brewed to a charter which states it can only be brewed by the head brewer on a Friday and that it must be brewed using 100% natural ingredients, Kentish hops and barley, and the brewery’s own artesian mineral water.

Bottle. Taste is fine, slightly bitter. Aftertaste is boring and a little metallic. An ok beer with a good amount of carbonation.

Men meget britisk. 330 ml, flaske, 5.2 % ABV, BB: 05/2018, købt i Netto på Roskildevej i Valby. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. 5.2%. Best before 05.18. Pours a clear, deep golden/dark amber, with a light tan head. Great lacing. Sweetish bordering sugary, malty aroma, with a yogurt overtone. Darkish fruit and hop notes as it warms. Flavour is sweetish and malty, again with a light yogurt overtone, which diminishes as it warms, and gives way for molasses, fruit and light hops instead. A bit tart finish, malty, fruity, with a lingering licorice-y bitterness followed by a grassy hop note. Overall okay, but a wee bit cloying. 13.07.17.

Bardzo pozytywnie mnie zaskoczyło. Pierwsze skojarzenie to kwas chlebowy pozbawiony kwaśności (sic!). Bardzo chlebowe, z nutami ocierającymi się o herbatę, zupełnie bez goryczki. Smakowało mi.

Light brown/amber color without head. Walnut and malt aroma. Sweet and dry taste.

nephirem (540) - CROATIA - JUN 10, 2017
Bottle, 0.5l. Clear amber pour with one finger off-white head, slightly creamy. Decent retention, good lacing. Nose is heavily malty with good wooden and caramel notes. Slightly charred. Medium body, regular carbonation. Slightly creamy texture, smooth and pleasant. Malty sweet taste with a touch of hop bitterness towards the finish. Aroma is malty, a bit roasty, a bit caramel. Wood. Herbal, peppery, earthy. Caramel gets more into play as it warms up. Nicely balanced. Regular finish, mildly bitter, a bit peppery and slightly dry. Overall, quite smooth and easy drinking. Enjoyable and refreshing.
