There’s a spicy signature to this incredibly complex cockle-warming winter ale. The nose is reminiscent of raisins, dates and molasses while the palate is vinous with tannin-like notes of leather, vanilla, apricots and a hint of rustic Armagnac on the finish. An awesome after-dinner drop.

TET (3168) - Kaarina, FINLAND - DEC 12, 2016
A coppery beer, a head is quite small and blond. Aroma has sweet and dried perry fruitness, some apricot and maltyness of dry cake. Taste has sweetness of caramel and dried fruits, some drying and flowery bitterness. Medium bodied, low carbonation. slippery to drink. A very sweet with dried fruits, but still balanced. Better than I expected with some feelings of X-mas.

Gluepot (682) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 8, 2016
A dense white head on a clear copper body. The nose has that xmas feel to it - raisins, malt, berries and nuts. A nice job on a Christmas ale. Spice, banana, chewy malt, ripe berries, raisins and dates are all appropriate. Hints of rum, nuts and vanilla add to the mix.

sudomorph (1181) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 4, 2016
500ml 2016 bottle from the lcbo. Pours a clear, copper caramel with a half finger of off white head that thins to a thick film. Aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, grain, slight dark fruits, and faint spice. Taste is balanced well with notes of caramel, toffee, creamy grain, hints of spice, and a drawn out ending. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Fuller and a bit creamy in the mouth with a dryer finish. Overall tasty English Christmas beer. Cheers!

Psytron (2444) - Turku, FINLAND - DEC 4, 2016
Smell of malt, caramel, a faint of oak. Copper colour, beige head. Aroma of oak, some spices, overripe fruit, a faint of metal. Sweet. Lively carbon, slightly oily palate. Slightly off balance.

simontomlinson (556) - Blackburn, Lancashire, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2016
Off white creamy head stayed well on a translucent dark auburn coloured still body - looks appetising. Malt & dark fruit aroma. Medium to full body feel, very smooth to the fore & slightly pert on the back. Sweetish on the front with rich dark fruits, brown sugar, dark berries & malt but this fades across the palate to a slightly hoppy back with peach, apricot & tangerine.

In short: malty british strong ale.
Pours quite clear dark amber with nice creamy off white head. Moderate head retention, little lacing. Mlaty, bready, little roasty, licorice, nuts nose. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is smooth, malty, licorice, caramel, little spicy. Good.

ncube (116) - - NOV 29, 2016
Aroma is vinious and fruity with raisin, toffee, and toast. Taste: Body is thinner than I would have liked, but not oversweet, good mildly bitter finish into an herbal vegetal aftertaste. Not my favourite of this style. A little disappointing.

Marstonlad (939) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 23, 2016
Bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours clear brown with a little head that fades away completely quickly. The aroma features sweet maltiness, ripe fruitiness; raisin, fudge and caramel. Taste is medium sweet, malty and fruity, in a ripe way. Flavours of caramel, fudge, raisin, nuts. Simple, not much depth. The palate is medium-bodied, smooth in texture. There are much better British ales around.
