There’s a spicy signature to this incredibly complex cockle-warming winter ale. The nose is reminiscent of raisins, dates and molasses while the palate is vinous with tannin-like notes of leather, vanilla, apricots and a hint of rustic Armagnac on the finish. An awesome after-dinner drop.

500 ml bottle courtesy of RoNo. Pours clear amber with a rather small frothy and bubbly goldenish beige head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, tiny fruity and malty with sweet dark bread, caramel, orange peal, cloves, cookie dough, grass, toffee, dried apricots, dark grapes, vanilla fudge and hints of unripe banana and glue. Taste is sweet, bitter, fruity, malty and very tiny metallic with sweet dark bread, toffee, figs, caramel, orange peal, grass, pine needles, gingerbread, dried apricots, banana bread and hints of cloves and vanilla fudge. Mouthfeel is round, tiny spicy astringent and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with sweet bread, caramel, toffee, orange peal, figs, ginger and pine needles. Quite tasty malty beer.

Clear copper liquid with head that doesn't last too long. Hit with sweet malts right away. Little syrupy. Light hints of spice. Okay.

Pours an average size frothy head and has a clean amber appearance with a light reddish hue. Fairly thick lacing. Light malty and hoppy aromas, with mild toffee. Nice fruity and lightly spiced flavours with some faint hints of cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg. Slight drying and warming sensation. Nice little tingling on the palate as well. Really warm and inviting ale to enjoy by the fireplace on a cold winter’s eve. Doesn’t get better than that!

Smager sødlig af karamel, let humlet. Det sødlige smager lidt af frugtagtig.

jookos (7037) - FINLAND - MAR 1, 2017
bottle. coppery clear. nice smooth caramelly, bit buttery, butterscotchy caramelly nose. medium bodied, tastes a bit herby metallic, slight nutty caramelly. some spicing. malty, caramels, burnt sugary. bit nutty buttery. fine by me. isn’t a really heavily xmassy- spiced drink, unless that buttery thing is it. and it isn’t an unpleasant faulty buttery note, just sorta rounding soothing one.

Great strength with lots of warming flavours present. It’s a pity this beer is not available all year round. One of my favourites.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2017 God, men noget ordinær engelsk strong ale. Tilpas med sødme i smagen. Flot udseende og skum.

g_georgiou (600) - CYPRUS - JAN 18, 2017
Clear orange body with a thin white head. Aroma is malty, grainy, toffee. Taste is sweet and light bitter. Watery texture, soft carbonation, light body.
