500ml bottle between three on an Irish tasting evening at home on 11th Nov 2016. I slipped this into the session because it has a front label that looks ’Irish’. Worst beer of the night: weak in looks, aroma and taste: poor, watery imitation of an Irish Stout on all counts. That will teach me not to buy cheap Stouts. bottle from supermarket, 3.8%, 500ml, pours like a cola, brown slightly red hue with a khaki head. Aroma of toasted and roasted malts, biscuit, barley, Taste is thin, watery, dry, toasted and roasted malts, coffee, weak sweetness, weak bitterness, weak body and normal co2. Ciemny o palonej malej pianie . Czekoladowy posmak z nuta palonego slodu i kawy. Raczej gorzkawy. ManVsBeer (11126) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 2, 2015
Bottle from Lidl, Todmorden. Black with a very thin off white head. Has a roasted malt aroma and taste, but certainly understated and feels slightly thin in the palate. Martin243 (1245) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2015
Unusual for me to be in under 4% territory, but I bought a couple of bottles on my last trip to Lidl, so 500ml bottle at home poured into a pint sleeve. Really looks the part, black with a mighty, persistent, creamy beige head. Vegetal farmyard aroma. Bitter chocolate burnt toast, hint of treacle toffee. Palate-wise, it’s a bit thin and gassy, but overall, better than expected.

500ml clear bottle, filtered. 99p from Home Bargains. 3.8%. Double Stout. Woody. Nice texture for 3.8%. Holds up well against Guinness - indeed, I like it more. Has more roasty flavours. A very pleasant dark, roasty beer. StueyD (1586) - Heacham, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JUN 21, 2014
A dark cola brown coloured beer with a weak latte coloured head. A very light aroma, dark roasted malt elements, coffee, nutty and dark chocolate, plus a background fruitiness. A dry mouthfeel. A dry, roasted malt taste, espresso coffee, dark chocolate and nutty. There is a slightly sweeter fruity flavour in the background. This does temper the dryness into the finish.

A dark, black-brown coloured beer with a frothy but thick beige head. A light, roasted malt aroma, with a background of fruity hops. Fizzy, medium mouthfeel. The taste follows on from the aroma, a mildly sweet, roasted malt flavour, with hints of chocolate and dark caramel, is soon taken over by a bitter, pithy citrus fruit, hop flavour, that lasts through to a thin, weak finish.
